Clothes will dry faster if you do 2-minute task after washing them – no dryer needed

If you’re in a rush and need your clothes to dry fast, there’s a quick trick you can do before hanging them up that will help to speed up the drying process

If you’re not lucky enough to have a tumble dryer at home, you’ll be all too familiar with the nightmare that is laundry day. As the weather begins to cool down, it feels like it takes an eternity to dry your clothes, especially if you’ve yet to switch on the heating.

It’s in everyone’s best interest to dry clothes quickly, as wet laundry can lead to issues such as damp and mould if there isn’t enough ventilation. However, there’s a swift chore you can do before hanging up your clothes that could help speed up the process.

The laundry gurus at Lenor have shared tips to help you perfect the skill of indoor clothes drying, even without a dryer.

They said: “The cold, damp winter months can make drying clothes in winter a challenge, particularly when you don’t have a tumble dryer.

“In summer drying clothes is much easier as your homes and garden are naturally warmer so clothes can air dry quickly. But drying clothes indoors in the winter can take up a lot of room and a lot of time.”

Sadly, it’s still a task that needs doing, regardless of the season. But one tip will help your clothes smell ‘as good and fresh as new’ without that unpleasant musty scent, reports the Express.

According to the experts, all you need to do is give them a quick shake around when you take them out of the washing machine. When combined with an extra spin cycle, this is a fantastic way to accelerate the drying process.

The experts advised: “Give laundry a good spin and an extra shake when removing it from the washing machine to extract surplus water and damp.

“Make sure you check your laundry’s care labels before you spin them, as some clothes will be too delicate.”

Another tip that you’ve got to consider when drying clothes inside is making sure you hang them up immediately after washing. Leaving them to sit in the machine or laundry basket is a sure-fire way to make them smell like mould, and if you don’t have too much space, you can use your curtain rod as extra storage.

If you’re using a clothes airer, try to position this near an open window or somewhere with lots of ventilation. Make sure the items are evenly spaced, not all on top of each other, and take the time to rotate them every few hours to ensure they dry faster.
