Coleen Rooney came second on this year’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and enjoyed a phone call with husband Wayne after she left camp in Australia on Sunday
Coleen Rooney said husband Wayne told her how proud he was of her during their first phone call after she left the I’m a Celebrity camp.
The media personality, 38, on Sunday had an emotional conversation with her partner for the first time in weeks while she tackled the jungle. She had previously received a letter from Wayne, 39, in which “he’s never missed as much” during their 16-year marriage.
Coleen came second in the competition, narrowly losing out to McFly’s Danny Jones. Speaking to reporters after her exit, Coleen said: “Wayne just said how proud he was.
“In the letter I got he said he’s never missed me as much – and I can understand that because we’ve not spoke. We’ve been apart for weeks and weeks on end, but we speak a number of times a day, we FaceTime. So to not have that communication, it’s been tough.”
Wayne, currently manager of Plymouth Argyle, was the first person Coleen rang after the programme ended. During the ITV show, she had expressed her sadness at missing Wayne, father to their four children. The WAG also said she considered quitting in the first week as she sobbed over her kids in camp.
But Coleen, from Liverpool, overcame her struggle to almost clinch victory. The mum lost out to Danny, 38, by just over ten per cent of the 10million votes cast.
Recalling her challenge, the strong-willed media personality said: “In that first week, I did wake up one morning and obviously I’d been given the pillow that I was sleeping on.
“I looked and I’d seen Wayne and the kids, and I had a little cry and thought, ‘I don’t know whether I can go all this way’. And that was only week one.
“But then I soon snapped out of it and went and done the washing up, and collected the wood and did whatever I had to do and it was fine. I got on with it.”
