Controversial South Carolina pastor John-Paul Miller has tied the knot with his third wife just one year after the death of his second wife, Mica Miller, caught national attention
South Carolina pastor, John-Paul Miller, 45, whose ex-wife’s death made headline and captured the nation, tied the knot this weekend, just one year after her passing.
The controversial pastor said “I do” to his new partner and third wife, Suzie Skinner, 50, during their cosy beach wedding on Myrtle Beach, reports The Daily Mail.
Freelancer reporter, Robbie Harvey, took to X to share that there was a surprising addition to the romantic scene, as the intimate guest list appeared to include security guards, brought in to prevent any unwanted guests. He observed that the newlywed’s combined brood of seven were not present during the summer ceremony.

The pastor’s third marriage comes amid the continuing wave of criticism over the death of his second bride, Mica Miller, 30. Mica’s body was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Lumbee River State Park, North Carolina on April 27, 2024. She died just days after she filed for divorce from the pastor.
Mica had attempted to contact the police several different times in the months before her suicide. In these calls, she accused John-Paul Miller of grooming her when he was a teenager, to which he denied at the time, as well as implying the allegations were a result of mental illness she suffered from. He reported her having tried to die by suicide more than once.
New bride Suzie also lost a previous spouse to horrific circumstances – her late husband, Chris Skinner, 41, drowned in a local pool in Myrtle Beach after his wheelchair rolled into it on September 6, 2021.
Whilst there are no suspicious flags to the late Skinner’s drowning death, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner, Tamara Willard, reopened the investigation in March 2025 after “new evidence regarding the manner of death” was found.
The Mirror reached out to Willard, who confirmed the investigation remains open, although there have not been any recent developments. Willard stated that she hopes to ensure “every possible avenue has been explored and exhausted” before the case is closed.
In June 2024, Alison Williams, the first ex-wife of the pastor, filed for sole custody of their children, for reasons including scandalous claims about John-Paul’s sex life – with some even involving Chris Skinner and his wife.
In the affidavit obtained by the Daily Mail, Alison opened up about how her ex’s alleged affair with Suzie in 2021 and claimed that the controversial pastor used their son to organise “meet-ups” – as he and Suzie’s son played football together. Alison claimed she was completely aware of their alleged infidelity, and that it was a known topic of discussion with their friends. She claims that this caused “a tremendous amount of embarrassment” for her family.
“When I learned [John-Paul] was exposing our children to yet another one of his adulterous affairs, I confronted JP and Suzie and told them not to let it happen again,” Williams wrote in the affidavit from 2023. She divorced Miller in 2015 after learning about his alleged affair with Mica (who he married in 2018), Williams is yet to share whether the supposed 2021 affair with Suzie ended before wife Mica death.
Chris’s sister Tamra McDermott claimed Suzie called the pastor to the scene immediately and that the reopening of her brother Chris’ investigation was prompted by a new witnesses providing evidence that contradicted Suzie’s account at the time.
The investigation is now refocusing on Chris’ “distancing” from the Solid Rock Ministries church after stating his dislike for John-Paul four to five months before his death. Interestingly, Chris had worshipped there consistently since 2018.
Tamra previously told The Daily Mail: “Chris definitely voiced that he did not like the pastor of that church and he did stop going to church there”. The Mirror has reached out to JP Miller’s attorney for a response to the claims.
