Soap stars, including Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver, were out in full force on Thursday at the Broadcast Awards, which were held at JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London
Glamorous Sue Cleaver looked stunning as she showed off her weight loss at the Broadcast Awards.
The ceremony, which took place in London on Thursday, celebrated the best of British television and was attended by a host of soap stars. Coronation Street showcased the night with a snap of the Eileen Grimshaw star and her ITV co-star Daniel Brocklebank, who stars as Billy Mayhew.
“Ready for the Broadcast Awards tonight,” the ITV soap’s official X, formerly known as Twitter, captioned the post. Daniel looked dapper with a black bow tie while Sue stunned in a black wrap dress which she paired with a gold necklace and earrings.
Coronation Street fans gushed over the actors as one commented: “How do you both look younger now than you did 10 years ago!!!” Another said: “You both look great! I didn’t recognize you.” (sic)
“Damn what happened to Sue? She looks amazing,” a third said while another added: “We are happy to see Sue looking so good; she’s ‘workin’ it!” Daniel uploaded the same picture to his own account as he praised his soap co-star.
He wrote: “My date for the night. The gorgeous @officialsuecleaver. Heading into the #BroadcastAwards.” Coronation Street were nominated in the Best Soap/Continuing Drama category along with Emmerdale, EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Waterloo Road and the eventual winner Casualty.
Emmerdale uploaded a similar dapper snap to X of actors Kevin Mathurin and Jonny McPherson. The caption read: “Tuxes at the ready for tonight’s Broadcast Awards.”
Coronation Street’s Sue has lost an incredible three stone after giving up alcohol. The TV star told The Sun: “I went on HRT about a year and a half ago and realised I should have done that about five years ago.
“I was walking around in a bit of a fog and then I literally made some massive changes.” Sue confessed she put on “a lot of weight” by drinking wine in lockdown. She added: “Then I did dry January and I thought: ‘I wonder what life would be like if I stopped completely?'”
Sue wants to make it clear she isn’t someone who obsesses over diets and weighing herself, telling Prima Magazine in March 2023: “I lost some weight in the jungle, but I’m not obsessing over diets: life is hard enough! There’s always going to be outside pressure and unfair expectations placed on women, but I refuse to get pulled into it.
“That’s why I’ll never promote anything weight-related, and it’s why I’d always compliment somebody on their smile or outfit, rather than their weight.” Sue, who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes revealed she’s her fifties have been the happiest ten years of her life.
