Lion’s Mane and other mushrooms have been celebrated for their health properties
Have you tried Lion’s Mane yet? The latest health trend is a daily dose of functional mushrooms. It’s as simple as adding a dash of Lion’s Mane tincture to your morning coffee or taking a capsule before hitting the gym.
Named for its unique, mane-like appearance, Lion’s Mane is loaded with bioactive compounds and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries to promote mental clarity, memory and overall wellness. Scottish functional mushroom expert Smith Feeney has just launched his Love Mushrooms brand in Tesco.
His tinctures and capsules are priced at £9.90 and are permanently on a three-for-two offer with a Tesco Clubcard. Customers can choose from Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps and Reishi – all certified organic and vegan-friendly.
Smith, who owns his own organic mushroom farm and lab in Forres, Scotland, uniquely uses ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE), the most efficient extraction method that preserves the natural compounds to ensure high purity and potent extracts. His tinctures are the only British-made alcohol-free tinctures, guaranteeing a great taste.
He said: “Lion’s Mane supports the brain and can help with anxiety. Cordyceps is perfect to take instead of a cup of coffee in the morning as it has an energising effect – and it’s also good before exercising, while taking Reishi an hour or two before bed can enhance your sleep.
“I’m fascinated by the benefits of mushrooms and how closely they’re connected to our wellbeing. As humans, we share 50% of our DNA with mushrooms.”
A spokesperson for Tesco said: “We’re delighted to be stocking Love Mushrooms capsules and tinctures in our stores across the UK. They are on offer to our Clubcard customers on a permanent three-for-two deal, giving people a high quality and affordable everyday British product.”
