A dad who was “beaten to a pulp” while his four-year-old daughter watched on in horror is to undergo major surgery that will involve removing parts of his skull.

Kaisen Kinsella, 27, was having a meal with his partner, Georgy Annaise, and their kids, Sylvie Star, four, and Sully Moon, who is seven months old, when he was “brutally attacked”. Georgy clutched their traumatised daughter in her arms as the incident unfolded at the Dog and Partridge pub in North Stifford, Essex, on Friday August 22. Kaisen meanwhile was left with a broken eye socket and a bleed on the brain and is still recovering in hospital.

A fundraiser was set up for the self-employed thermal insulator to support his family during his recovery, and his friend Charlie Meggs has now given an update on GoFundMe.

He said: “This week, Kaisen will be undergoing major surgery. The procedure will include cosmetic reconstruction of his nose and the removal of damaged portions of his skull, which will be replaced with metal plates due to the severity of the fracture. In preparation, he has shaved his head and is ready to take this important step forward.

“Following surgery, Kaisen will remain in the hospital under close care. We will share an update once he has woken up and is safely back home.”

More than £6,300 has been raised so far and Charlie expressed gratitude to everyone who had donated.

After the assault, Georgy spoke exclusively to this reporter from Kaisen’s hospital bed, and said: “I never imagined a relaxed evening out with friends and family would turn into a nightmare that has completely upended our lives. This brutal and unprovoked attack has left my daughter traumatised.

“She’s having nightmares and has stopped eating. We’re still in shock, and I can’t help but wonder what has happened to humanity?”

The mum also described Kaisen as a gentle giant, her best friend and an incredible father. Georgy added: “He’s always the first to help anyone, and we wouldn’t wish what happened to him on anyone. While his physical injuries will heal with time and surgery, the emotional scars will take much longer. This is just the beginning of a long road to recovery for him and for all of us.

“Our daughter is supposed to start school next week. Instead of preparing her uniform and getting her excited for this new chapter, we’re now focused on hospital visits and emotional healing. I honestly don’t know how she’ll cope but I have to stay strong for my family and for our children, who witnessed this horrific attack.”

In relation to the investigation, a spokesperson for Essex Police confirmed a 17-year-old boy was arrested on August 28, on suspicion of ABH and GBH with intent. He has been released on bail until November 13.

In a previous statement, Chief Inspector Tony Atkin said the victim was left with “awful injuries” after the “serious assault”.
