Dad unlocks dead son’s phone and finds ‘mocking video left by killer’

Giamcomo Friso, 34, allegedly knifed his neighbour Michael Boschetto to death in Italy – Michael’s father finally managed to unlock his son months later and made a chilling discovery

A determined father managed to unlock his dead son’s phone and found a cruel video filmed by his alleged killer attacker. Michael Boschetto, 34, is thought to have been stabbed to death by Giamcomo Friso, 34, who lived on the same street as him in Padovana, north-west of Padua, Italy.

Friso allegedly knifed his former pal four times on April 27. Friso is said to have snatched Michael’s phone out of his pocket and then filmed a sickening video, bragging about his death. The victim’s father, Federico, was desperate to retrieve the phone from investigators, who struggled to uncover the password. Months later, he was reunited with his son’s mobile and made a shocking discovery.

In the footage, his alleged attacker made a “victory sign”, the dad said. He told local media: “My son’s smartphone, which had been seized from Friso, was only returned to me after many months, with the explanation that they couldn’t extract any data from it. Later, his girlfriend helped me unlock it – but I saw her go pale. When she turned the phone towards me, I understood why.

“On Michael’s phone, there was a video of Friso filming himself as he walked into his house, dancing and making a victory sign. The face of that man, who had just been arrested for my son’s death, was on his phone, wearing a mocking smile.’”

On April 27, Michael is said to have woken up at around 4:30am when Friso began banging on his front door in a rage. He went downstairs and the two men began arguing. Friso eventually left, but he returned at around 6am, this time allegedly armed with a knife.

Michael was waiting outside his house for his girlfriend to arrive when the attacker allegedly turned up. When she arrived a short while later, she found Michael dead with stab wounds to his face and chest. The pair had known each other since childhood but had fallen out.

Detectives believe Friso had no clear motive for the killing. He was known in the community for his erratic behaviour and he had recently been released from rehab. In the days before the killing, he is said to have been out of sorts and wandering the streets carrying a knife.

Friso had claimed self-defence after his arrest. Federico said: “During the video, there were details that didn’t match the story I’d been told. According to him, he’d just fought with my son and had been beaten too – but he didn’t even have a scratch on his face.”

Although the investigation is officially closed, it is likely this new evidence will be added to the prosecution’s file. The trial is scheduled to take place on September 11.
