Danny Jones’ ‘struggling’ wife Georgia ‘doesn’t even know what to say to nearest and dearest’ in the wake of her husband’s kiss with Maura Higgins at a Brits afterparty
Georgia Horsley is “struggling” and feels “humiliated” and is focused on ‘protecting her son’ after her McFly husband Danny Jones was caught on camera kissing his I’m A Celeb campmate Maura Higgins after a boozy BRITs afterparty.
The former Miss England model has seen upcoming work appearances cancelled and was due to appear in public on Saturday (7 March) alongside her Mum’s the Word podcast co-host and pal Kelsey Parker at the Baby Show at London’s Excel. But a source close to the former model says that the mum of one will not be appearing and she is having a tough time and has put all work on hold.
The insider added that Georgia is also keen to shield the couple’s seven-year-old son Cooper from the very public fallout. “Georgia is struggling at the moment. She isn’t just having to navigate the circumstances, but doing it publicly.
“She has been humiliated. People are quick to forget there is a child in the middle of this mess”, they claimed. “Georgia is putting her focus into their son, Cooper. For now, Georgia will not be participating in any work commitments, including The Baby Show, and any podcast filming.”
Addressing her anticipated appearance at The Baby Show, the source added, “With thousands of people attending, and a number of media titles, it wouldn’t be right for her to attend and speak, when the news is only going to have been a week old by this point.”
“How can Georgia be expected to know what to say to attendees and the media, when she doesn’t know what to say to her nearest and dearest right now? Georgia is a strong person and will find her way, but she is prioritising their son over everything else right now to ensure he is protected.”
Georgia married Danny – who is due to appear on TV on Thursday night in a pre-recorded segment – at St Mary’s Priory Church in Old Malton, Yorkshire in 2014, but their strong union was thrown into doubt when Danny was filmed by a fellow party guest at a BRIT Awards afterparty, when the pair were seen chatting together much of the night and seemingly locking lips at one point in a video that swiftly went viral.
Georgia, Danny, both 38, and Maura, 34, have all remained silent on the scandal thus far – but it hasn’t stopped fans from expressing their dismay as the video in question went viral, Danny was widely slammed for his actions, as a married man. Danny had shared a snap on Instagram from the awards night, standing beside KSI and bandmate Tom Fletcher, with the caption: “The collab you neeeeeeeed”
Fuming fans soon took to the comments section to slam the singer. One read: “Wtf Danny. You are married with a child. Fans are meant to respect you but how can they when you don’t even respect yourself.” Someone else wrote “Oh Danny you had it all man”, while another comment read: “Here before the comments get turned off or limited!”
Another fan came to the under-fire musician’s defence, penning: “Omg EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP! These are people’s lives. Leave them alone.” And another commented: “If you have come here commenting in the most negative way, when we don’t know all the facts shame on you, for trying to bring somebody down.”
Danny and Maura – who recently split from her former TOWIE beau Pete Wicks – met each other on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! last year, which he went on to win. Viewers saw Danny, his wife and their little boy enjoy an emotional and tearful reunion after Danny was crowned King of the Jungle and Georgia later revealed she’d been left to sort out the family’s house move while he was away.
In January, she admitted she was booking herself into a solo countryside retreat to detox from the stresses of life, confessing that she felt ‘burnt out’ after a month of solo parenting while Danny was in the jungle, which he went on to win.
