David Beckham copies Victoria with own fashion line – with nod to Harper in name

Plans for the star’s latest venture appear to be a nod to daughter Harper. His holding firm DB Ventures Ltd has filed trademarks in the UK and US for the fledgling brand

Manchester United legend David Beckham is launching a clothing brand just like his top designer wife Victoria. It is understood the former England midfielder’s latest venture will be a nod to the couple’s 14-year-old daughter, Harper.

His holding firm DB Ventures Ltd has filed trademarks in the UK and US to protect the fledgling brand’s logo, seven vertical lines, with the final stroke slanting to the right.

The shirt number worn by Beckham at United was number 7 and Harper’s middle name is Seven. He also has seven in Roman numerals inked on his arm. The number has spiritual meaning and also signifies good fortune for the former England captain.

Seven was the focus of intense speculation when Harper was born. There are suggestions it was because she weighed 7lbs 10oz.

She also arrived into the world at 0755 LA time and was born in the seventh month.

Documents filed with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office reveal he wants to sell ‘Clothing; footwear; headgear’.

They have already been rubber stamped in the UK.

The trademark will stay in place for a decade to stop bootleggers ripping off the design.

An application to the US Patent and Trademark Office asks for the right to be able to sell: “Tops as clothing; Bottoms as clothing; Footwear; Headwear; Dresses; Jumpsuits; Swimwear; Coverups; Scarves; Gloves; Mittens; Shawls; Bodysuits; Hosiery; Socks; Clothing belts; Undergarments.”

It has yet to be passed. Annual revenues at Victoria Beckham ’s fashion and beauty brand went through the £100m mark for the first time last year.

Accounts filed at Companies House showed that Victoria Beckham Holdings generated sales of £112.7m, up 26% from £89.1 million in 2023.

It was the fourth consecutive year of double-digit revenue growth for the company, founded by the former Spice Girl in 2008, “as it delivered on its plan for long-term profitability”.

Sales from the Mayfair store and its website grew 26 percent, just under two thirds of the total sales. Victoria and David Beckham are worth a combined £500m, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

David Beckham earned £28m in dividends from his personal brand empire since 2022, as new commercial tie-ins with companies such as Stella Artois and Boss helped to offset losses at his TV production studio.

The former England captain, who retired from professional football in 2013, sold a 55% stake in his businesses in 2022 to Authentic Brands for £200m
