It’s not a bean-to-cup model, so you’ll need to pick your choice of ground coffee for this machine – but that does come with the benefit of a much cheaper price. If are looking for a coffee grinder model the Breville Barista Max model is being sold at Amazon and is one we’ve reviewed before.
This Morphy Richards model could bring a touch of barista into homes or office though, with a milk frothing nozzle, a dual cup dispenser, tamping spoon, and digital display. It has a removable 1-litre water tank and a drip tray to make cleaning easier.
And a feature most coffee connoisseur’s will look out for when buying a new machine is the pressure, and this has a standard 15 bar. This effects the taste of the coffee (as it measures the pressure of which the coffee grounds are pushed through the hot water) if wrong it can make a slightly more bitter taste or the wanted ‘golden foam’ when mixed with milk.
“Love this. Always wanted one like it, but not to take over my savings and kitchen space”, was the first review left by a five-star rating shopper who went onto say how they thought the machine was ‘perfect and compact with a premium feel’.
They also said: “May take a bit of practice/research mainly for your lattes using the steam wand but there’s helpful tips and videos out there. Try to rinse the ground coffee holders after every use, otherwise it can dry up and clog and prevent coffee from pouring.”
Another shopper said: “This is a little gem. I have a small kitchen and had constraints with space. I had purchased DeLonghi brand for the same amount of money but it stopped working in less than a month.
“After purchasing this, I was about to return it as I was not getting good frothing with the milk. I had purchased it expressly for cappuccino. After being shown by high street coffee makers that the tip of the steam wand nozzle should only slightly be inside the milk jug (I use ordinary coffee mug) and that I should use cold milk, preferably full cream milk, I have had fantastic results.”
Throughout the comments shoppers do highlight how careful you have to be when cleaning the machine, as this can effect the pour of the coffee, something most coffee machine users will need to keep in mind no matter the brand. “It gets hard to clean once the used ground coffee dries up, as the filtering perforations are very fine and tiny, a challenge to unblock”, as a user highlighted.
Debenhams is offering the £82-off sale as part of its extended Cyber Week sale, although it’s not known just how long this deal will be around for, while other options in its sale include the Smeg Drip Coffee Filter Machine.
