Debenhams watch similar to Taylor Swift’s engagement timepiece reduced by 93%

Taylor Swift fans can copy her look with a discounted timepiece that aligns with this season’s obsession with heirloom-inspired accessories

Many of us were buzzing over Taylor Swift’s ring when she got engaged recently, but the timepiece she wore while accepting her proposal also had the fashion world talking. Fans might have spotted the gold-tone, square-faced Cartier watch she sported, a brand that’s loved by celebrities and royals, including Princess Diana.

The diamond-crusted Cartier Santos Demoiselle has set the stage of what’s fast becoming 2025’s hottest accessory trend – retro-inspired watches with a modern, refined edge. The vintage-inspired timepiece resembles the £20,000 Cartier watch, but the square watch frame also strikes a similar resemblance to the popular Cartier Panthère, which retails at £26,400. The Gv2 watch features a square dial, Roman numeral markers and a signature link band.

Apart from displaying a remarkable similarity to the coveted Cartier timepiece, its cost is a major draw. Already more budget-friendly than the designer equivalent at £2,995, it’s presently slashed to £201.75.

This incredible 93% reduction saves shoppers almost £2,800, making it a great affordable alternative. The retailer didn’t detail the quality and carats of the diamonds employed but they noted the watch features a “sapphire crystal face” with an anti-reflective coating and that it’s waterproof to 50 metres. In addition to that, the strap of the watch is a link bracelet-style, crafted from stainless steel with ion-plated yellow gold.

Several other versions of the timepiece are also up for grabs in the Debenhams sale, including a mixed metal variation, which has now been slashed from £2,995 to a mere £189. If the £202 price tag for the gold watch seems a bit hefty, Sekonda’s Monica watch is another splendid choice.

This popular timepiece comes with a price tag of £54.99, or you can opt for the simple mixed metal maxi size at the same price. Fossil’s Harlow watch, retailing for £169, is another style that bears a resemblance to the Cartier watch as it features a gold-tone bracelet and an octagonal-shaped case.

A Debenhams shopper shared: “Have to say I am so pleased with this watch, it came in a stunning black box which once opened revealed this beautiful watch, it has the feel and look of such quality. It was much to big for me in the strap but my local jewellers soon remedied that, it now fits perfectly and looks amazing on my wrist.”
