Christmas is the perfect excuse to indulge in a plethora of mince pies – and now you can whip up your own batch with this simple four-ingredient air fryer recipe.
There’s nothing quite like savouring a freshly baked mince pie with a warm beverage in hand, so why not try baking your own courtesy of online recipe creator and food enthusiast Sisley.
Despite traditional mince pie recipes being laden with numerous ingredients and complex instructions, this quick and easy recipe requires just four ingredients. Some may call it “cheating,” but you’ll have a delicious batch of mince pies ready in no time.
Thanks to the convenience of air fryers, these mince pies will be cooked and ready to enjoy in just 30 minutes. To make 12 scrumptious mince pies, the recipe is detailed below.
Ingredients
Despite the simplicity of the ingredients list, there are a few tools you’ll need to assemble the pies. These include a pastry cutter, a rolling pin, 12 cupcake cases and, of course, your trusty air fryer.
Method
The pies will take 15 minutes to prepare and another 15 minutes to bake in your air fryer. To begin, unroll your shop-bought pastry sheet and use your pastry cutter to cut out bases slightly wider than the cupcake cases.
Gently press them into the cases to form the base of the pies. Add the mincemeat mixture to the bases in the cupcake cases, filling them up to about three-quarters. With the leftover pastry, cut out 12 lids, which can be either star-shaped for a festive touch or smaller circular tops.
Whisk an egg and brush it over each lid. Then, air fry six pies at a time for 15 minutes at 180C. Sisley suggests checking after 10 minutes to see if they need more time and have turned a golden brown colour. Enjoy!
