Donald Trump’s ‘unlimited cash’ remark to Man City owner as he makes feeling clear

By staff14 October 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Donald Trump was among the world leaders who attended a major diplomatic meeting in Egypt on Monday, where he shared a brief exchange with Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour

Donald Trump didn’t hold back his thoughts on Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour during a peace summit in Egypt this week. The world’s top leaders convened for a crucial diplomatic meeting to discuss the future of long-term peace in Gaza.

Among them was Mansour, who is also the vice and deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, alongside Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. This summit comes after a ceasefire was established between Israel and Hamas, thanks to significant contributions from the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey.

The goal is to transform this temporary truce into a permanent peace agreement. As he posed for the cameras, Mansour was warmly greeted by Trump.

During their brief interaction, Trump shook his hand, gestured towards him and said: “A lot of cash, unlimited cash… And he’s a good man, too!”

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas were among the other attendees. Mansour’s presence at the summit highlights his diplomatic role beyond his ownership of Manchester City.

Through the Abu Dhabi United Group, Mansour holds high-ranking positions in several Emirati institutions, including the UAE Central Bank, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the Mubadala Investment Company. Since Mansour’s Abu Dhabi United Group bought Manchester City in 2008, both the club and the Premier League have undergone significant transformations.

Since then, the club has been expected to win major silverware every season and significant investment has established them as serious contenders on all fronts. Mansour has only attended two City matches over the course of his ownership of the club.

He was first in the stands to watch a 3-0 home victory over Liverpool in 2010. He was also present in Istanbul to watch City overcome Inter Milan in the Champions League final, which saw his club secure a historic Treble.

The club have ploughed billions into the transfer market ever since he took over in 2008, with no end to the spending in sight. Over the course of 2025, the Cityzens have invested around £369m in transfers.

Pep Guardiola’s team will be back in Premier League action this weekend, taking on Everton at 3pm on Saturday. They are currently fifth in the Premier League but are only three points away from current league leaders Arsenal.

They then travel to Spain to face Villarreal in the Champions League on October 21 in their bid for European and domestic glory again.
