There’s still plenty of time for green-fingered enthusiasts to make the most of the summer, particularly those on the hunt for planters and pots. With autumn just around the corner, numerous retailers are cutting prices on outdoor tools and equipment.

One such bargain is a VegTrug medium raised wooden planter, currently available at a double discount from Yimbly (a marketplace owned by The Mirror’s parent company, Reach Plc). Normally priced at £199.99, it’s generally on sale for £159.99.

In addition, shoppers can use the discount code SUMMERDAYS10 (valid until the end of August) to bag an extra 10% off, reducing the price to £144. In contrast, the same trug is retailing at Robert Dyas for £159.99, reports the Express.

The grey VegTrug planter is crafted from 100% FSC-certified cedar wood treated with a water-based preservative, making it suitable for year-round outdoor use. Perfect for compact spaces, the planter arrives flat-packed and requires home assembly. It has six legs, a 420-litre soil capacity and a pre-formed liner that enhances soil health and aeration.

Elsewhere on the high street, Dunlem also offers a range of outdoor planters. This smaller, wooden planter is considerably cheaper at £59 and is specifically designed for herb growing. It’s also smaller in size compared to Yimbly’s offering.

Consumers can elevate their gardening game with the medium classic vegtrug.

Over at B&Q, this wooden planter features a trellis on either side for vine-growing plants. It also has a top-hanging roof for lightweight plant pots. It costs £56.95.

Prospective buyers of VegTrug’s medium raised wooden planter can find reviews and ratings on Robert Dyas. One customer said: “I love the colour. It’s so sturdy, and as a plant, it looks beautiful in my garden.”

Another shopper snapped up two trugs and described them as ‘great’, adding: “Loads of room to grow veg and herbs at an ideal height. I will probably buy more in the future and give up my allotment.”

An additional customer had some constructive criticism, describing it as a ‘good item’ but suggesting: “Some of the holes were not perfect, and the legs differed in length, but not massively. I think it should come with the water reservoir included and the attachable table accessory, as these are additional costs that I think should be included in the £199 upfront cost.”

The same customer continued: “They should not cost the vast amounts they charge for them separately, especially if you are paying full price!”

Yet another buyer shared: “The Trug was delivered safely. I was delighted with the quality of the parts and the fit. The instructions were unusually helpful. Having constructed it, it is now full of vegetable plants and no slugs!”
