The IIDB is a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefit aimed at supporting workers
UK workers who have been injured on the job could be in line for more than £900 a month. The Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) is a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefit.
It is designed to support workers who have become ill or disabled due to an accident or disease at work, or whilst on an approved employment training scheme or course. The amount a worker can claim from the benefit will depend on an assessment by a medical advisor, who will determine the level of disability, which can range from 1% to 100%.
Here’s what you could receive based on your disability percentage:.
- 20% – £45.06
- 30% – £67.59
- 40% – £90.12
- 50% – £112.65
- 60% – £135.18
- 70% – £157.71
- 80% – £180.24
- 90% – £202.77
- 100% – £225.30
Who is eligible for IIDB?
To be eligible for IIDB, you must have experienced an accident or disease at work, with certain criteria needing to be met in each case.
Accidents
For accidents, eligibility requires that the incident occurred while you were employed, were on an approved employment training scheme or course, and it took place in England, Scotland or Wales.
Diseases
As for diseases, IIDB covers more than 70 conditions that qualify for the benefit. This can include:
- prescribed disease A11 (previously known as vibration white finger)
- osteoarthritis of the knee in coal miners
- deafness
- pneumoconiosis (including silicosis and asbestosis)
- asthma
- chronic bronchitis or emphysema – also known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Dupuytren’s contracture

How to apply
To apply for IIDB, you’ll need to complete either a Bl100A form for an accident or a BL100PD form for diseases. You can either print this form online or request it from the Barnsley Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit centre by ringing 0800 121 8379.
Once you’ve sent off the form, an assessment of the information you’ve provided will be conducted. In certain instances, you may need to undergo a face-to-face medical assessment to further your claim.
