East Midlands Airport LIVE: Plane with burst tyre blocks runway as flights on hold

Pilot praised for ‘bringing everyone down safely’

Ealier today, a TUI plane that was due to land at Birmingham Airport declared an emergency after its tyre punctured. The pilot managed to safely land the aircraft in East Midlands Airport. All passengers have disembarked, but the plane is still preventing other aircraft from taking off and landing on the runway.

Taking to social media, user Wendy Fletcher praised the pilot, writing: “Well done to pilot for bringing everyone down safely”.
