Easyjet tourist slams meals that ‘looked like dog food’ during Crete holiday

By staff22 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Erin Wells described her stay at her hotel in Crete, Greece as “living hell” because she and partner Jordan Evans had issues with their food and state of their bedroom

A tourist has compared meals served on her all-inclusive holiday to “dog food”.

Erin Wells and Jordan Evans had hoped to celebrate their birthdays with the 10-night trip in Crete, Greece, at a four-star hotel which they say had positive reviews online. They spent £2,218 on the easyJet holiday last month but, disgusted with the food, say they had to fork out a further £600 on meals in restaurants and pubs.

Erin, who is a hospital administrator, said: “We went down for lunch and saw nothing was labelled, there was just unmarked meat. Later on into the holiday I went up to one of the chefs and asked what the meat was and she opened the container, picked up a piece of the meat, ate it and said ‘well I think it’s chicken’. We didn’t know what we were eating.”

The 24-year-old woman also said her and Jordan’s room flooded from the shower and the pool and sun loungers were “full of mould”. She was so concerned about falling ill that she did not set foot in the pool once during the getaway.

Easyjet says it is in contact with the couple and the hotel partner to address the concerns. However, Erin wants a full refund, which she feels she and Jordan, 25, won’t receive.

The young woman, from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, continued: “We only ever had the desserts once because they were so grim, they were pretty rank. Nothing was marked so you didn’t know what you were eating. They were just sat out at room temperature. Nothing about them was appealing.

“They were inedible. The food as a whole was just disgusting. They looked like dog food. It’s not even like they were trying to make the food look presentable.

“I wouldn’t even serve the food to a dog. Even though we paid for all-inclusive, we ended up spending £600 on food and drink while we were out there because the food was so bad. We only ate at the hotel a couple times.”

The young couple chose Crete, the largest of the Greek islands, after reading positive reviews about both the resort and the hotel. However, Erin said: “We had spent all this money and it was a living hell. It makes me sad to think people are now booking that hotel and are going through what we went through. It was a holiday from hell. We were looking forward to going home.

“The photos they’re putting out are just so far from what it’s actually like there. They’re seriously misleading. A full refund would be great but I don’t feel we’re going to get that. I just want them to consider taking that holiday off their website.”

An easyJet holidays spokesperson said: “We’re sorry to hear Erin didn’t have the holiday experience she expected. We are in contact with Erin to offer a gesture of goodwill and understand what went wrong so that we can investigate these directly with our hotel partner.”
