But popular online retailer, Cult Beauty, has done the hard work for us, and has launched The Set for Sun Edit, containing a range of SPF heroes to protect face, hair and body.
The limited-edition collection costs £40 and allows customers to explore a high-performance lineup of SPF essentials from top-tier brands, all while saving over 75%. There’s been a real appetite for this type of beauty box in recent months. Back in March, Boots launched their Boots SPF & Skincare Edit Beauty Box for £35, and it sold out in a matter of days. It was valued at £173.92, making very similar savings to the Cult Beauty haul, including brands like Sol de Janeiro, Rituals and Byoma.
Also launched last week was The Summer Heroes Edit from LookFantastic. It costs more than Cult Beauty’s at £45, but is said to be worth ‘over £150’, making the Cult Beauty option better value. The LookFantastic version contains six items, four of which are full sized and one of which is valued at £55 alone.
As for the Cult Beauty beauty edit, there are seven products, of which four are full sized, working out at less than £6 each, plus a handy fan for keeping cool in the heat. The full-size Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 30 is one of the hero items, worth £36.50. The multitasking sunscreen-meets-primer delivers a dewy, lit-from-within glow thanks to hydrating hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich sea lavender.
Many shoppers have purchased the edit solely for the Supergoop! Product, with one commenting: “This edit is only slightly more expensive than the cost of buying the full size Glowscreen so it’s a no-brainer to be able to try lots of other products too. It would have been nice to have seen a mineral SPF product included. I’m a bit wary that some of these products might irritate my sensitive face skin but I can always use them on my body. For me the Philip Kingsley hair product really sealed the deal as it provides a bit of variety and means there is some variation from the standard face SPF products.”
Also in full size is Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Balm SPF 30, a handbag essential for top-ups on the go, as well as the Philip Kingsley Swimcap plus a mini of the ELEMIS’ Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. This has long been a favourite among skincare enthusiasts and would usually set customers back £37.

The edit has racked up 4.86 stars out of five on the Cult Beauty site . One commented: “I love everything in this box, even the fan! I use SPF everyday so every product in the box is so useful to me especially as summers coming up too. Would be great as a gift as well.”
Another loyal customer who gets the edit ‘every year’ said they were ‘a bit disappointed’, though. They added: “Definitely not as good as usual! I mainly bought it for the supergoop. I did however really like the Laneige spf, a full size would have been great.”
