“Exactly as you’d expect from this creme-de-la-creme of cleansing balms. Nothing else comes close. Buy it! I’ll definitely get another, it’s perhaps my favourite scent yet!”
Elemis has earned thousands of loyal fans with its iconic cleansing balm which has been released in a ‘delicious’ new scent – and there’s a way to get it for under £12. The Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm has now been reimagined in a Black Cherry scent that promises to be the ‘cherry on top’ of your skincare routine. The fan base is said to include a number of celebrities, including but not limited to Victoria Beckham, Molly-Mae Hague and Poppy Delevigne.
It uses a blend of oils to keep skin soft, nourished and smooth as it gently cleanses. Optimega Oil is a blend of wheatgerm and oat oils has been shown to help reduce transepidermal water loss while Starflower Oil is the richest natural source of Gamma Linolenic Acid, which helps to soften, smooth and nourish skin.
Elderberry oil is used for its fatty acids and other nutrients that act as natural antioxidants to promote radiant-looking skin. Padina Pavonica is a moisture-boosting, brown macroalgae found on the Mediterranean coast that is rich in polysaccharides which quench the skin for a visibly radiant complexion.

The scent is said to smell like a ‘spa’ with a delicious blend of black cherry, almond and vanilla. As it’s quite new it’s only pulled in just over 30 reviews in this particular scent but it’s earned a glowing 4.6 out of five average star-rating. One shopper said: “Delicious! I’m absolutely in love with this balm. My skin smells delicious!”
A second penned: “Decadent! I love my cleansing balm and over the years there have been hits and misses in their limited editions. This is a huge hit, it smells and feels rich and decadent. There is a warmth to it and it leaves the skin clean and soft. I will definitely be buying more to put away.”
A third wrote: “Can’t even describe how beautiful this scent is! It’s amazing to make a black cherry, almond like scent still have a tinge of that “spa” scent Elemis does so well. And the texture and quality are exactly as you’d expect from this creme-de-la-creme of cleansing balms. Nothing else comes close. Buy it! I’ll definitely get another, it’s perhaps my favourite scent yet!”
A fourth added: “I knew as soon as I saw that there was a limited edition Black cherry Pro collagen balm released , that I had to have one! I’m so glad I bought it because it’s my favourite scent of Elemis cleansing balms by far. The smell is absolutely divine.
“It makes cleansing a pure pleasure rather than a chore after a long day. The scent transports you to somewhere exotic. Makeup is melted away and skin is left feeling refreshed, soft and ready for the next step in your beauty routine.”
Not everyone was so pleased though, one shopper found it too sweet writing: “As someone who thinks Green Fig is the best of the best I took a step out of my comfort zone and ordered this. I have to say I don’t like it. The formula is still the same, it’s still the same wonderful consistency but the smell is not cherry to me. It’s more berry, artificial and sweet. Almost sickly sweet and utterly overpowering all other skincare products and not in a nice way.”
There are other cleansing balms on the market, although they rarely have the same cult following as Elemis. Superdrug’s Melting Cleansing Balm, which retails at £9.99, is a simple unscented option that some shoppers love. If you love cherries but don’t care about the balm formula then Fenty Skin Cherry Dub Pore Purify’r Gel Cleanser could be a good option, which you can get for £27.20 at Boots.
