Emma Raducanu’s surprising 2025 earnings despite rising up the ranks before US Open

By staff7 August 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Emma Raducanu has had a solid year on the WTA Tour in 2025, but the British No. 1 has not made as much money as you’d expect ahead of the US Open

Emma Raducanu may have been relatively successful on the tennis court this season, but the British No. 1 has surprisingly not made a significant amount of money. The 22-year-old is currently preparing for the final Grand Slam of the season in the States, the US Open, which begins on August 24 in New York City.

Raducanu has yet to reach a final in 2025. Her best performance at a major tournament was at Wimbledon, where she was defeated in the third round by world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

The tennis star also reached the third round at the Australian Open and the second round at Roland-Garros, losing to 2025 Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek in both instances. As a result of these early departures, Raducanu’s earnings from tennis this year total around £724,000 ($970K), which is more than a quarter of a million short of a seven-figure sum.

However, Raducanu isn’t focusing on her earnings at the moment, as she sets her sights on climbing the world rankings at the Cincinnati Open ahead of fourth and final major tournament this season. Currently ranked 33rd in the world, the Brit is just one spot away from being seeded in the next Grand Slam – a position that could greatly enhance her chances of a deep run in the tournament.

Raducanu made history in 2021 by winning the US Open at just 19 years old. She clinched the prestigious trophy with a 6-4, 6-3 victory, becoming the first woman to win a singles title without dropping a set since Serena Williams in 2014, and securing her place in British sporting history.

However, she hasn’t claimed another Grand Slam since then, and Raducanu is keen to recreate her past success at Flushing Meadows by reaching her first final in 2025. Her recent performance at Wimbledon has brought back some of that confidence, as she took Sabalenka to a tie-break in the first set before pushing her hard in the second.

The Brit’s intense match against the Belarusian star saw five million viewers tuning into the BBC’s broadcast. This was the third-highest peak for a non-final match in four years – only being beaten by Andy Murray vs John Isner in 2022, and Raducanu’s fourth-round battle with Lulu Sun in 2024.

After her Wimbledon defeat, she said: “It is very difficult to take right now. It’s hard to take a loss like that but at the same time I’ve pushed Aryna, who is number one and a great champion, so I have to be proud.”

Now, the US Open is the next one up on the cards for Raducanu, and her memories of 2021 may well spurn her on to another remarkable triumph on the hardcourt.

If she manages to stun the world again and lift the trophy, Raducanu’s earnings and confidence will skyrocket. She pocketed £1.8million for the win in 2021.

According to the Mail, this year’s tournament will see the women’s singles champion take home a whopping £3.9m ($5m), marking a significant increase from the Brit’s winnings four years ago.

Ahead of the US Open, Raducanu has teamed up with Francisco Roig, Rafael Nadal’s former coach. She hopes to use the Spaniard’s impressive track record to help her reach the final she has been dreaming of since 2021.

Roig’s inclusion into Raducanu’s coaching set-up seems to be a temporary measure, following Mark Petchey’s return to his media responsibilities for the US hardcourt season.

Raducanu knows she can count on the UK’s unwavering support as she sets her sights on another stellar performance in New York City, with the prospect of the largest payday of her young career potentially awaiting her at the end.
