Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has attracted interest from Spain’s top clubs – and it’s said that some of his Argentina team-mates have even tried to convince him to move
Enzo Fernandez is being urged to LEAVE Chelsea for Atletico Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window by some of his international team-mates – but it is said the Argentina star has no appetite to quit London.
Fernandez, 24, joined the Blues two years ago for a British record transfer fee of £106.8million and is tied to the club until 2031 after signing a long-term contract. That hasn’t deterred interest from his suitors, though, following an upturn in form for the midfielder this season.
It has emerged that Fernandez has admirers in Spain with both Atletico and their bitter-rivals, Real Madrid, keen on signing him. Intriguingly, Fernandez plays alongside five Atletico stars in the Argentina national team.
In a new report from Diario AS, it is claimed that quintet – made up of Rodrigo de Paul, Nahuel Molina, Julian Alvarez, Angel Correa and Giuliano Simeone – were tasked with convincing Fernandez to swap London for Madrid.
Unfortunately for Atletico, it seems their charm offensive has failed to land with Fernandez rejecting a move. The report goes on to add, though, that the player is ‘keeping his options open’.

As recently as November, Fernandez was linked with a move away from Chelsea after losing his place in the team under Enzo Maresca, who succeeded Mauricio Pochettino during the summer break.
That followed an underwhelming start to his career at Stamford Bridge, with Maresca struggling to replicate the classy displays that made him one of the breakout stars of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

But the former Benfica star has since gone on to produce some of his best displays in a Chelsea shirt to wrestle his way back into Maresca’s plans. Fernandez’s improved performances has coincided with him contributing five goals and a further nine assists to Chelsea’s cause across all competitions this term.
After starting all but one of Chelsea’s last 18 Premier League matches, Fernandez’s spot in Maresca’s team is nailed down as the Blues push for a top-four finish.
Fernandez and his team-mates are back in action with a huge London derby against Tottenham next week as they bid to chase down Nottingham Forest in the race for third spot. They have a difficult run-in, though, and still have to play Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United.
