Europe’s ‘hottest spot’ in April has 24C heat and gorgeous sandy beaches

By staff13 March 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Cyprus is Europe’s ‘hottest destination’ in April with temperatures regularly hitting 24C. The island nation is also home to stunning beaches with turquoise waters and is a short flight from the UK

Spring has sprung in the UK, but for those craving a sun-soaked getaway, Cyprus is being touted as Europe’s “hottest destination” for an early dose of Vitamin D.

As April ushers in warmer climes, this Mediterranean gem is already basking in average highs of 23C to 24C, outshining its European neighbours with its southeasterly position, not far from the warmth of the Middle East.

While some might argue that the Canary Islands hold the title for Europe’s warmest spot at this time of year, it’s worth noting that they are closer to Africa than Europe, geographically speaking. In contrast, Cyprus enjoys proximity to the main European continent.

Cyprus is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery, boasting pristine white beaches and crystal-clear turquoise seas. For those eager to jet off for a beach holiday this April, Cyprus is an excellent option, with flights averaging four and a half hours from the UK (depending on your departure point).

April in Cyprus promises around 11 hours of glorious sunshine each day and minimal rainfall – just seven days’ worth, totalling about 20mm. The sea is inviting too, with temperatures hovering around a comfortable 18C, perfect for a dip, reports the Express.

Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa is arguably one of Cyprus’ most renowned coastlines, drawing visitors regardless of its bustling nature, primarily for its breathtaking landscape.

One visitor revealed their thoughts on Tripadvisor after a summer visit, stating: “The beach in question offers pristine waters that are refreshingly clean, creating an inviting environment for a swim. However, it is worth noting that the beach tends to be extremely crowded, with sunbeds often reserved from early morning.”

Another holidaymaker pointed out that despite being a “crowded beach” it offers “amazing clean and clear water and white sand”.

Spanning 500 metres, Nissi Beach boasts waters so pure it has earned the coveted blue flag status. Even in the off-peak seasons, the beauty of this place doesn’t fade.

But Cyprus isn’t just about its stunning beaches. A treasure trove of historical wonders awaits, having hosted numerous civilizations over millennia.

For those fascinated by history, Cyprus is a playground of extensive ancient cities and enigmatic Neolithic sites, not to mention the Roman ruins scattered across the country waiting to be discovered.

Culinary enthusiasts will be delighted by the country’s mouth-watering cuisine, which features traditional Cypriot dishes such as souvlakia (grilled meat kebabs), shaftalia (grilled sausage), afella (pork marinated in coriander), fried halloumi cheese, olives, pitta bread, kolokasi (root vegetables), lamb, artichokes, chickpeas and rabbit stews (stifado).

For those seeking a hassle-free travel experience, there are numerous flight options between the UK and Cyprus. If you’re after a package holiday, TUI, Jet2holidays and British Airways holidays all have some fantastic deals available.
