Everton would need to stump up around £12m to land Jack Grealish on loan for the season. The Toffees have an interest in signing the Manchester City winger on a temporary basis but have not yet made their move.

Grealish, 29, is understood to be available this summer for a move away from the Etihad Stadium. Everton could only realistically pursue a loan deal but even that would come with some big figures.

City are keen to recoup most of the player’s whopping £300,000-a-week wages to allow him to leave on loan which equates to almost £12m.

The finances are not putting the Blues off but they are waiting to see how the rest of the window plays out before deciding to launch a serious bid. It is one they’re could revisit closer to the window closing.

They won’t be the only club interested in the player who City signed for £100m in 2021. Grealish is training with City and could yet remain at the Etihad Stadium for the season. There have yet to be fresh talks about a move to Everton but there is real interest there from boss David Moyes.

Everton are trying to get busy in the transfer market and they landed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall yesterday. The fee for the 26-year-old midfielder is an initial £24m from Chelsea. There is a further £4m due in add-ons.

Dewsbury-Hall has signed a five-year contract and the former Leicester City man is out to prove a point after an unsuccessful season with Chelsea. “I’m honestly very excited, my family’s excited. There’s a real buzz about this. It feels right for me,” said Dewsbury-Hall.

“So just that alone gives me the motivation and the extra determination to show everybody, to prove a point and have a really successful time here.”

Dewsbury-Hall is Everton’s fifth signing of the summer after Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Mark Travers and Adam Aznou. They are still looking for another midfielder as well as a right-sided attacker at least.
