Ever since she was born, New Yorker Charlotte Drinkwater has spent every summer on the picturesque Massachusetts island of Nantucket where new Netflix hit is based
A woman who has spent every summer on the idyllic island where Netflix’s ‘The Perfect Couple’ was filmed describes it as a “mini paradise”.
Charlotte Drinkwater, 23, has been visiting the picturesque Massachusetts island of Nantucket since she was a child, whereby her mother and siblings would commit to the 287-mile journey to spend their summers there.
According to Charlotte, Nantucket’s charm lies in its independent eateries and unspoiled beaches. As an avid fan of the series, Charlotte even notes that the show’s characters bear a resemblance to some of the individuals she’s encountered on the island.
New York City social media worker Charlotte shared: “It is such a special place. It is so beautiful and magical. It has such a unique and strong community. I definitely think that the characters are similar to people I have met on the island.”

“There is a lot of wealth around. Especially from being a waitress here — I have a lot of experience with customers who might have a different attitude due to their wealth.”
‘The Perfect Couple’, the popular Netflix series set in Nantucket, showcases a picturesque town with pristine beaches and quaint cobbled streets. For Charlotte, the best part of her visits to the island, is lounging on the beach or hitting the local independent bars with friends.
She revealed: “I do pretty much the same thing every weekend. We love to go to the beach as much as we can. After the beach, we love to go to the brewery or the sand bar. I love to either have dinner with my friends on the beach or dinner with my family.”
“On the weekend we go into different bars around the town. Working out there as a teenager I made so many friends. The girls I live with in New York, I met there and all my friends I have in my life met me in Nantucket. It is a beautiful place.”
Despite the show’s massive popularity — it pulled in an impressive 20.3 million viewers in its first weekend — Charlotte hasn’t noticed an immediate surge in tourism. She said: “I definitely think the rise in tourism will happen next summer. I know that places out there are using it as marketing doing a perfect couple hotel experience. I think that it will definitely impact tourism next summer.”
Charlotte described Nantucket as “magical”, noting how the island’s small details such as vibrant hydrangeas, make it special. She said: “It really is magical out there, it is so unique — there is nothing else like it out there.

“There are niche things that you won’t find anywhere else. It has no chain restaurants, no stop lights and it had a great small town feel. It has cobblestone streets and pristine beaches. It is a mini paradise that feels like you’re in a different world. The people there are the most special to me after meeting so many people there.”
The Netflix limited series ‘The Perfect Couple’ is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Elin Hilderbrand. Across six episodes viewers watch a wedding turn into a tragedy after a body is discovered and all the guests become suspects. In its first week on the streaming platform the series was watched for 3.4 billion minutes.
