Everyone with an iPhone urged to download ‘important’ free upgrade from Apple

By staff2 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

If you have an iPhone in your pocket, you must install the latest version of iOS 26 immediately.

Apple has just released an ‘important’ software update, and it’s highly recommended that iPhone users install it without delay. The change – called iOS 26.0.1 has just been pushed out to devices across the world and fixes a number of issues, including Bluetooth connectivity and problems with the camera.

It appears that many of the gremlins affect the latest iPhone 17 range of devices that only launched last month. So, if you dashed out to buy one of these call makers, it’s recommended to install iOS 26.0.1 without delay.

“This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone,” Apple explained.

Here are all the issues that will be mended once installed.

• Wi-Fi and Bluetooth may occasionally disconnect on iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models

• A small number of iPhone users may be unable to connect to a cellular network after updating to iOS 26

• Photos taken under certain lighting conditions with iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models may include unexpected artifacts

• App icons may appear blank after adding a custom tint

• VoiceOver may become disabled for some users after updating to iOS 26

Now, you might be thinking there’s no need to rush to grab this update if you own an older device but this is still a vital release for all iPhone users.

Along with the bug fixes, iOS 26.0.1 also fixes a security vulnerability that could lead to a number of issues if exploited.

“With iOS 26.0.1, Apple has patched a vulnerability in its FontParser module (CVE-2025-43400), applying improved bounds checking to prevent an out of bounds write,” said Adam Boynton, Senior Security Strategy Manager EMEIA at Jamf.

“Because the issue has the potential to cause service disruptions or undermine system stability, we strongly recommend updating to iOS 26.0.1 at your earliest convenience.”

Boynton explained how seemingly innocuous bugs like this can end up causing you a lot of headaches.

“The flaw could be triggered by a malicious font delivered via a document, email attachment, or web content, and may lead to unexpected application termination or memory corruption.

“According to Apple and independent assessors, there are no confirmed instances of this vulnerability being exploited in the wild to date. However, that limited visibility should not lull users or organisations into complacency.”

So, the message is simple. If you have an iOS update waiting to be installed, you should get it on your iPhone without delay.
