Ex-Apple employee reveals five things you didn’t know your iPhone could do

By staff18 February 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

From your camera to your phone torch, there are a lot of quick and easy tricks to help you get the most out of your iPhone

Since the release of the very first iPhone in 2007, the world’s most popular smartphone brand has come on leaps and bounds, constantly transforming into a sometimes bigger, but always better version of the model before. The most recent version is the iPhone 16, which was launched last year last year.

And, with software and models developing and changing all the time, users just can’t seem to keep up. Apple regularly creates new software – known as iOS updates – with the operating system now at version iOS 18.3.1.

And a lot has changed since the very first version. Most users aren’t getting the best use out of the product – with many possibilities hidden away that they’re just not aware of.

An ex-Apple employee took to TikTok to share what they described as “iPhone tips I thought everyone knew”. It quickly became apparent that many viewers didn’t know about these quick tricks, with a flood of surprised comments.

The first thing Tyler Morgan shared was a handy camera tip. He showed viewers that if you open up your camera app, you can actually record a video just by holding down the photo button and zoom in by swiping your finger, similar to the way the camera works in both Snapchat and Instagram.

Demonstrating another useful trick, he said: “If you’re having a hard time reaching all the way across your phone, you can always use the one-handed keyboard.” To activate this, click on the planet symbol at the bottom of your keyboard – this will reveal multiple keyboard options, allowing you to shrink and move the keyboard.

One tip that could be very useful for content creators is the ability to add commentary to screen recordings. Tyler shared that if you hold down the screen recording button, it will appear with the option to tap ‘microphone on’, allowing you to record your voice as well as recording your screen.

Another hidden feature on Apple apps is the ability to select multiple items at once. When in your messages or photos app, you can use two fingers, swipe upwards on the screen, and it will select all the items as you swipe up.

For those times when you accidentally delete something in your notes app, the ex-Apple employee shared a quick trick to save the day. He said: “If you ever delete something by accident, you can always just shake your phone, and it’ll just give you the option to undo it.”

Shocked viewers shared their surprise and thank him for the useful tips. One user wrote: “I’m very grateful you showed up on my ‘for you’ page, I didn’t know any of these.”

Another surprised viewer said: “SO THAT’S WHAT “UNDO TYPING” MEANS?!? Thank you!” Thanking him for the useful advice, someone wrote: “WAIT thanks so much for the one-hand typing thing. I never thought of it.”
