Ex-Reform MP Rupert Lowe poses with his array of guns after they were seized by armed police

Former Reform MP Rupert Lowe has gleefully posed with his array of guns after they were returned to him following a police raid.

The weapons, which are legally owned, were seized during when armed police descended on his home in March. It followed an allegation that he had threatened physical violence against former Reform chairman Zia Yusuf, which he denied.

Mr Lowe said on Thursday afternoon he was “furious” that the guns were ever taken and hit out at Mr Yusuf and Reform chief whip Lee Anderson. The MP for Great Yarmouth has been locked in a bitter spat with Reform after being suspended from Nigel Farage’s party earlier this year. He now sits in Parliament as an independent MP.

The image appears to show at least eight shotguns being wheeled by the smiling politician.

Rupert Lowe said the return of his guns was 'positive news'

The former Southampton FC chairman, who recently hit the headlines after mistaking charity rowers for asylum seekers off the Norfolk coast, shared a picture of himself with a wheelbarrow full of shotguns. They were returned after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said no action would be taken.

Mr Lowe posted on Twitter/X: “Positive news. After having my guns confiscated in an armed police raid late on a Friday night in mid-March thanks to false allegations from Reform’s Lee Anderson and Zia Yusuf, I have finally had my guns returned.

“I am pleased they’re back, but furious they were ever taken.” And he later posted: “Guns back, and Lucy Connolly is at home with her family. A good day.”

This referred to the release from prison of Mrs Connolly, who was jailed last October after admitting inciting racial hatred following the Southport murders.

In March, when the raid happened, Mr Lowe posted: “As a result of the false allegations that I made threats against the Reform chairman, on the 14th March at 21.30, armed police arrived at my home unannounced – three vehicles, with four armed officers.

“The previous day, I had arranged with the police to voluntarily give up my guns. So as you can imagine, to have armed police suddenly arrive on my doorstep late at night was a deeply stressful situation.

“I am a farmer. Farmers have guns, all entirely legally. There is nothing unusual about it.”

There was a very public fallout between Mr Lowe and Mr Farage shortly after Elon Musk appeared to back the former to become Reform’s new leader. In an interview with the Daily Mail in March, Mr Lowe brazenly dismissed Reform as a “protest party led by the Messiah” and said it needs “top to bottom” change.

He was suspended from Reform as an extraordinary war of words broke out, and allegations of threatening behaviour were made to police. Mr Lowe is still facing a Parliamentary investigation over allegations he and his team bullied two former members of his staff. He has categorically denied this.
