Charlotte May Lee, from South London, is facing jail time in Sri Lanka after her suitcases were found to have a huge stash of drugs. Her loved ones said she has been left ‘rotting in a jail cell’
A former TUI stewardess who was busted for allegedly carrying two suitcases full of drugs worth around £1.2million had travelled to Thailand for a mysterious job before her arrest, according to her pals.
Charlotte May Lee, 21, from Coulsdon, South London, was handcuffed by cops after getting off a flight in Sri Lanka from Thailand last Monday. According to reports, her lugguge was jammed with 46kg of a synthetic drug known as kush, a combination of chemicals, drugs and even bones.
The 21-year-old reportedly left for Thailand around two weeks ago and was very vague about her plans ahead of the trip. According to her friends, she briefly mentioned that “she had a job on a boat” but never shared a start date.
But on social media she filmed herself back in the beautiful country, partying and posing for pictures. Her friends said she never made it clear that she had intended to go back to Thailand after visiting the country in April to see her sister.

On the day she was arrested, Charlotte had uploaded a video of herself wearing a facemask on a plane on TikTok. Days after the post, she recorded herself on Snapchat and alerted her friends that she was in custody in Sri Lanka.
Her friend told Mail Online: “No one has heard from her in a few days. Her Snapchat did go live at one point, but whether it was her or the police we don’t know. She was back here [in the UK] in May and then she was off again. But she did not mention she was going away, nothing was said. And previously she would have said [about her plans].”
A family friend earlier said that she had been “abandoned and is rotting in a jail cell”. They told the Sun on Sunday “we’re frantically worried. She was arrested then seemingly abandoned and is rotting in a jail cell. She’s very scared.”
Another friend added: “She’s been told if convicted, because of the size of the drugs haul, she’s looking at between 20 and 25 years in jail. British Embassy staff warned her she’s going nowhere soon.”
