At the end of August, Ofgem announced its new price cap, which will result in gas and electricity bills rising for millions of UK households this winter. And if you’re concerned about paying more on your household energy costs, this expert has found an easy and affordable way to keep warm and cosy without needing to turn your heating on.

The price cap is going up by 2% from this October. This means for every £100 you spend on gas and electricity, your bill will rise to £102. The hike is bigger than expected, with most analysts predicting a 1% increase in the price cap. Read more here.

With prices rising and the temperature plummeting, many households will be devising methods to stay cosy while maintaining their budget.

To guarantee you and your dwelling preserve as much warmth as possible this autumn and winter, Sally Bonser, specialist at Silentnight, has offered some useful advice.

“As the temperature drops, layer up as much as you can before turning the heating up. Thermal tops and leggings can be worn underneath clothing to add insulation, with hoodies, fleeces, and coats to be worn over the top for added warmth.

“Oversized hoodies are a great cosy option for when lounging around the home, providing a comforting yet beneficially warm layer. The Silentnight Heat Genie Self-Heating Oversized Hoodie features a unique heat reflecting foil layer which reflects body heat back with no electricity needed.”

Perfect for those who love a bit of warmth during the autumn and winter months, the Silentnight Heat Genie Self-Heating Oversized Hoodie features a unique heat-reflecting foil layer that bounces your body heat back to you, providing extra cosy warmth without the need for electricity.

Deliciously soft and snug, it features a plush fabric outer and a warm sherpa fleece inner, for ultimate snuggly comfort. The hoodie is generously sized for comfort, and one size fits all.

Whether you’re lounging on the sofa, working from home, or hosting friends in the garden, this cosy self-heating hoodie is perfect for every occasion and helps reduce your heating bills during the colder seasons.

You can find the Silentnight Heat Genie Self-Heating Oversized Hoodie at Sleepy People for £24.99, from Very for £32, or from Boots for £27.99. If you’re looking to save some pennies, Amazon is currently offering the same Silentnight hoodie for the lower price of £20, but there’s no telling how long this deal will last.
