Fabian Hurzeler breaks silence on Man Utd speculation with clear Ruben Amorim verdict

By staff1 October 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has emerged as a potential option to replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United following a woeful start to the season, and the German has now spoken out

Fabian Hurzeler has assured he remains ‘happy’ with Brighton despite growing speculation he could replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. The Red Devils have endured a woeful start to the season, having lost three out of their opening six games.

That has led to speculation that Amorim could pay with his job, with a few early frontrunners being linked with replacing him. Brighton boss Hurzeler is among those mentioned following his impressive work at the Amex Stadium.

And asked about a potential switch to Old Trafford, he claimed that he remains content with life on the South Coast – and has refused to talk about the growing pressure on Amorim.

“Tough decisions and rumours are always part of this job so you have to accept it, you have to deal with it, but I really want to say that I have a lot of respect for Ruben Amorim so I won’t talk about his job or any rumours that might come regarding him,” Hurzeler told Sky Sports.

“I’m really privileged to be a coach for Brighton and Hove Albion, I’m very happy here and we still have a lot of work to do.”

Hurzeler is not the only Premier League boss to have been linked with a switch to Man United. Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is also a potential contender following a standout stint with the Eagles.

And like his opposite number, the Austrian is not paying much attention to speculation. He said: “I follow all the rumours – and that’s all there is – neutrally and completely relaxed.

“Focusing on the daily work with my players and coaches, and trying to enjoy it as much as possible.”

Amorim’s future could take a fresh turn this weekend with the Red Devils set to take on newly-promoted Sunderland at Old Trafford. Another defeat could see the Portuguese coach under huge pressure.

Despite that, he has claimed that he does not have any worry over his position. Speaking after the weekend’s defeat to Brentford, he said: “I am always comfortable with the job.

“I am not concerned, it is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here. I am never concerned about my job, I am not that kind of guy.

“I’m always doing my job. If I win, I’m in a different state of mind. That is normal, but I’m always confident because I know what to do. I’ve always taken a lot of responsibility on your own shoulders.”
