Big Kid Circus – currently set up at Warout Playing Fields in Glenrothes, Fife – was forced to ask all punters to leave during the show on Thursday July 3 after a vehicle burst into flames

A circus performance was dramatically halted when a lorry burst into flames outside the tent, leading to an urgent evacuation this evening.

Big Kid Circus, which is currently pitched at Warout Playing Fields in Glenrothes, Fife, had to interrupt their show on Thursday July 3 and evacuate all attendees after a vehicle caught fire near the attraction.

Emergency services, including fire engines and police, quickly arrived at the scene, ensuring that everyone was safely escorted out. Photographs from the incident taken by bystanders depict a massive lorry just a stone’s throw away from the circus tent, completely engulfed in fierce flames with thick black smoke rising into the sky.

Families watched on in shock as the lorry was engulfed by flames, it has not yet been confirmed what caused the fire or how much damage it caused. As of 8pm on Thursday evening, two fire engines were still present at the location, but thankfully, there have been no injuries reported, reports the Daily Record.

The organisers of Big Kid Circus have announced that they are conducting a “thorough investigation” to find out what sparked the fire. Speaking to the Record, a spokesperson for Big Kid Circus said: “The incident that occurred during the performance of the Big Kid Circus at Glenrothes.

“A vehicle parked outside the circus tent caught fire. Fortunately, we are relieved to report that no injuries have been reported, and all attendees were safely evacuated. Confirming the incident, a representative for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated that they were alerted to a trailer fire at 7.04pm and that two appliances remained at the scene.

On their website BIg Kid Circus says this year it is “celebrating two decades of spectacular touring shows that have captured hearts across the nation”. Their shows “promise to leave audiences spellbound” and carry “a dazzling array of talent, heartwarming comedy, and breathtaking stunts”.
