Influencer and mum-of-two Carol Acosta tragically passed away after ‘choking on her food at dinner’, and her GoFundMe page has reached a huge milestone just days after her death
Carol Acosta was loved by millions of fans who followed her life online, and now her life has been devastatingly cut short.
Carol, better known to her 6.6 million Instagram followers as as Killadamente, died last week after reportedly choking on her dinner and then going into cardiac arrest.
The Dominican Republic native influencer was just 27 when she passed away and her death has not only come as a huge shock to her loyal internet community, but to her distraught family too.
Carol’s family set up a GoFundMe in the wake of her death to raise money to cover funeral expenses, and the page has already reached a huge milestone as they have already raised over $25,000 (£20,000). Her heartbroken family are desperate to give the mum and influencer the send-off “she deserves”, and made a poignant plea on the platform.
The sad statement reads: “Today, January 3, 2025, our beloved Carolar, better known as KILLADAM, has passed away. The Acosta González family shares their pain with all the people who knew Carolar. At her young age, Carolar managed to help thousands of people through her work, but On this occasion we join together and ask for your help to give her a farewell as she deserves.
“If it is within your means, we would appreciate a collaboration, no matter how minimal it may be, to cover the funeral expenses and so that the family and their children can overcome this great loss and the void that Carolar is leaving in our hearts today.”
Carol’s younger sister Khatyan, also an influencer with 130,000 Instagram fans, confirmed the mum-of-two’s tragic passing on social media. She posted a photo of them on a plane and wrote alongside the image: “I love you sister and I will always love you.
“I give thanks to God for giving me a sister like you with your big heart. Rest in peace my sister.” She subsequently said in a tearful video address: “To all the people who are sending me messages of condolences, I want to thank you a lot for being there and for your support. “And thank you also for supporting my sister while she was still alive.”
Carol, who moved to the States from her Caribbean island homeland when she was 12, suffered bullying as a child because of her weight. The influencer then decided to convert her pain into humour and built up a huge fan base with messages of self-acceptance and self-love.
Many of the influencer’s fans have taken to social media to pay their respects. “Thank you for always being you, I love you queen, RIP,” one person wrote while another added: “I can’t believe it, I’m still hoping it’s fake.”
