Wireless Festival announced that the festival has completely sold out in record-time after announcing its first-ever three-day headliner in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The boy is finally home.
Just like his song, Drake has made the “Headlines” once again as he sold out his three-day upcoming Wireless stint in minutes.
Wireless is an annual rap and hip-hop festival held in London, where some of the biggest names in the music industry perform their greatest hits. This year, as the festival celebrates its 20th anniversary, organisers have announced a three-day headliner for the very first time – of course, it had to be none other than the beloved Canadian rapper, Drake.
All tickets for Rockstar Energy Presents Wireless completely sold out in a short frame of time, breaking a record as the fastest sell-out in the festival’s history.
The festival will take place in London’s Finsbury Park from Friday 11th July to Sunday 13th July, with each day featuring different setlists. Alongside Drake, several special guests are set to perform, including PARTYNEXTDOOR and Summer Walker (Friday), Burna Boy, Vybz Kartel (Sunday), and a mysterious artist known as The Mandem (Saturday).
This won’t be Drake’s first time performing at Wireless. He made his debut in 2012 as the festival’s “most requested artist.” However, his last UK performance was in 2019, when he played seven nights at the O2 Arena in London. Drake’s continued popularity proves that his fame is no joke and that he remains one of the UK’s most beloved artists – which is why headlining one of the UK’s biggest music festival is a big deal.
Earlier this week, fans with access to the pre-sale had the first chance to secure tickets. However, many experienced a crash on the website due to overwhelming demand, with tickets selling out “in a minute.” When they became available again, fans noticed a price increase on both general admission tickets and VIP packages, yet this didn’t stop them from purchasing.
When the general sale opened on Wednesday 19th February, all ticket types sold out immediately, and only limited VIP packages are still available. Due to high demand, ticket prices surged from £30 to £50, then to £100, with the most expensive three-day passes being £415. To make tickets more accessible, fans were also given the option to pay in instalments over four months.
Every year, approximately 50,000 festival-goers attend Wireless each day, and this year is expected to be no different. Over the past two decades, the festival has hosted global superstars such as Nicki Minaj, Future, Gunna, Ice Spice, Travis Scott, Tyla, Sean Paul, Jay-Z, Kanye West, P!nk, The Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, J. Cole, Pitbull, Calvin Harris, The Weeknd, Justin Timberlake, and many more.
With a deal reportedly worth millions of pounds, it’s no surprise that Drake is set to make history. As Wireless celebrates 20 years of unforgettable performances, fans can expect one of the most iconic sets in both the festival’s history and Drake’s career.
