A poll has found two thirds of us have experienced winter sadness in January – but 77% have found ways of cheering themselves up while it is chilly and dark outside
Christmas is over for another year, the decorations have been taken down and the cold weather really begins to grate…
So it’s little wonder that a new poll has found 61% of us have experienced the winter blues in January.
But 77% of us have a host of ways to cheer ourselves up during the first month of the year. Our top way to beat the blues is to get out in the fresh air, followed by spending time with family and watching our favourite film. Also in the top 10 list were cooking a Sunday roast with all the trimmings, wearing cosy socks and booking a holiday.
The Club Med poll found a quarter of people like to treat themselves to a winter break and 12% already have one in the diary. Over half of those polled, 52%, said they in fact prefer to go on holiday during the winter months.
Nicolas Bresch, managing director, UK, Ireland & Nordics at Club Med, said “The research shows that for Brits, January is the perfect time to think about a holiday, and we couldn’t agree more. Last year, we saw a 13% increase in bookings made during January, and with the festivities now behind us, we expect that it might once again be a popular time for families to boost their moods by looking ahead to trips for the coming year.
