Festival expert shares six things ahead of Creamfields and one mistake to avoid

Creamfields is one of the several music festivals that takes place annually in the UK and an expert shared six things which can be helpful to know for ticket holders who aren’t very familiar with the event

Music fans regularly unite during summer for festivals that take place across the UK. Some of the most popular include Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and Creamfields, taking place on Thursday (August 21) to Sunday (August 24) in the village of Daresbury in Cheshire.

Creamfields is an electronic dance music festival presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. The event has been running since 1998 and was founded by the British club promoter Cream. According to Festaff, the festival attracts a crowd of around 70,000 people every year. Some of the main artists featuring in the 2025 line up include Swedish House Mafia, ANYMA and David Guetta.

Two Step is a TikTok page run by Dex and Liv who share information about festivals and events to their 15,000 followers.

They posted a clip on the platform focusing on Creamfields and Dex said: “Here’s a few things about Creamfields you might wanna know if you’re thinking about getting a ticket or if you’ve got one and it’s your first time.”

1. People like to arrive early

Dex firstly shared that people attending the music festival like to arrive early and he included a clip of the queue at 6.45am on Thursday during one of the previous events.

The Creamfields official website states the opening time for campsites is 12pm on August 21 and 22 and 10am on August 23.

There are various start and finish times for the music on the four different dates.

2. Random ID checks

Dex added: “I get loads of DMs about ID. They do random ID checks like this. Also, just so you know in the queue when you’re waiting to come in there are portaloos so even if you’re there early and it’s ages until the gate opens you have got the opportunity just to go to the toilet as much as you need to.”

Creamfields has put together a pre-arrival checklist in which it recommends bringing a valid ID, noting this festival is only for those who are at least 18.

3. Entering the festival

The TikTok festival expert continued: “Once the gate’s open they let you in in waves. You’ll be given a pat down on a search.

“All your belongings will get looked through. Sometimes this is really thorough, sometimes it’s not. It just depends [on] who you get searching you.”

Dex shared once you’ve got through the search you will then have to walk past some dogs and after this you will be asked for your ticket and give your wristband. At this point he said you will be able to find your campsite.

The music-lover mentioned that Creamfields will often release its map or updated map around a week before the festival starts.

4. Silent disco on Thursday

Dex continued: “The first night of Creamfields, the Thursday, is always just a silent disco. I recommend you pace yourself.”

He advised not ruining your weekend by “getting trollied at the silent disco on the first night.”

5. Pack for all weather conditions and and ‘best’ camping spots

The seasoned festival-goer’s next piece of advice is to pack for all weather conditions, noting there will be “really boggy areas” in the camp sites.

Dex claimed the best camping spots are “normally the ones that are furthest away from the car parks and entrances”.

He suggested having a look around instead of settling for the first spot you see.

6. Don’t worry about bringing everything you need

The music fan concluded: “Don’t stress about bringing absolutely every single thing you need because [in the] worst case scenario you could show up to this festival with nothing and buy everything you need there.”

Campers short on camping gear can head to the Creamfield Camp Shop and pick up everything from an airbed to wellies to a spare tent peg, as per the website.

There will also be the onsite Co-op store selling toiletries and food and drink.
