Campbell Scott, 58, was last seen on Sunday, February 16, in Nairobi, Kenya, where he was on a work trip. Siince the discovery of his body two men have reportedly been arrested in relation to his death
Chilling CCTV footage has emerged showing the last known movements of British businessman Campbell Scott before he mysteriously disappeared in Kenya during a work trip.
The video captures the 58-year-old from Dunfermline, Fife, strolling through a car park wearing a blue top adorned with the Scotland flag on the shoulder and shorts. His glasses are perched atop his head, and he is clutching some unidentifiable items, in the last known footage of him.
This image is believed to have been taken shortly before he went missing in Nairobi on Sunday, February 16. Mr. Scott was in the city for a conference at the JW Marriott hotel, where he was staying with colleagues in his capacity as a senior director for credit scoring firm FICO.
On Monday, it was reported that his body had been found in a “sack” in the Makongo forest, about 60 miles from Nairobi. Two men, a taxi driver and a nightclub waiter, have reportedly been arrested in relation to his death.
FICO, where Mr. Scott had been employed since 2014, expressed their heartbreak over the tragedy. A spokesperson for FICO stated: “FICO can confirm that Nairobi police have identified the body of Campbell Scott, a FICO employee.”
It’s understood that Mr. Scott had frequented several bars and nightspots prior to his disappearance, reports the Daily Record.
Fico continued: “Campbell went missing last Sunday while on a business trip to Nairobi. We are not sharing further details, as the investigation is in the hands of the police. We are devastated by this tragic news. Campbell was a leader in our international Scores business. He joined FICO in 2014 and was instrumental in introducing Scores to new markets and growing our business with existing partnerships.
“We mourn his passing and will miss his humor and kindness. Our thoughts are with Campbell’s family and friends.”
Local media reporting that Mr Scott appeared to be in high spirits while mingling with hotel staff. The businessman left his hotel at 11.15am that Sunday, with his colleagues under the impression that he was going for a walk to shake off jet lag before their presentation at the business conference. However, he did not return and attempts to ring his phone at 6pm and 7pm failed.
UK Embassy officials and police investigators in Nairobi travelled to Makueni on Monday, following the reports of a gruesome discovery in the nearby forests by local herders who found a body in a green sack on Saturday.
The Foreign Office previously commented: “We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities.”
