Five paint colours to revamp your house that will help you sell your home faster

If you’re looking to sell your home, there’s one simple thing you can do to make it more appealing to buyers – and it doesn’t involve spending thousands

If you’re considering putting your property on the market, there’s one simple trick that could make it far more attractive to potential buyers. You don’t need to splash out thousands on a brand new bathroom or complete makeover, reports the Express.

A straightforward coat of paint might just be the game-changer you’re after. But if you’re planning to redecorate your property, it’s crucial to select the right shades.

Certain colours could backfire spectacularly, deterring buyers rather than drawing them in. Paint and Interiors Expert Lucy Steele, from V&CO Paint, has revealed the five paint colours that could boost your property’s selling potential.

Lucy’s initial advice centres on choosing the correct type of white if you’re planning to paint your home in this classic shade. She explained: “When it comes to making your home look sellable, softer, warm shades are the way to go.

“These shades make the home look cosier and more inviting for buyers, while maintaining the appeal of a blank slate that’s not too imposing.

“Look for whites with warmer undertones, like yellow and orange, which will give the room a creamier and warmer atmosphere, as opposed to true white, which can speak stark or clinical.”

Following this theme, cosy neutrals prove hugely popular amongst house hunters. Lily noted: “A big part of this perspective change on beige interiors is down to the ‘quiet luxury’ trend that’s really taken off over the last few months.

“There’s definitely something very refined and serene about beige that exudes an effortless elegance in your home, which is very appealing to buyers looking for a turnkey property.”

Cosy greens represent another favoured option that could enhance your property’s worth. Incorporating gentle greens throughout the house can contribute to creating a tranquil atmosphere, once again concentrating on ensuring potential purchasers feel immediately at ease and relaxed within the environment.

Muted sage green remains visually amongst the most soothing shades for the eyes and will appear welcoming. Should you want something slightly more dramatic, consider introducing a splash of red to enhance your living space.

Lily said: “When used in the right places, unexpected red theory can make a space feel more stylish, curated, and visually appealing, potentially increasing a home’s perceived value. It’s about using red as an accent to draw the eye, add vibrancy, and create a sense of confidence and intentional design”.

Charcoal grey represents another excellent option – though exercise care when selecting it. Chilly greys may render a room gloomy and unwelcoming, yet in the appropriate shade they can appear cosy and elegant.

Lily said: “The colour is incredibly versatile, making it appealing to potential buyers, but still hints at subtle luxury. When choosing a shade of grey, dark greys are definitely the way to go.

“Dark grey has the ability to create a sense of depth, drama, and intimacy, while light greys can offer a brighter, more airy feel, they can sometimes be perceived as less impactful or even cold.”
