Liverpool sold Fabio Carvalho to Brentford in the summer transfer window, but the Portuguese attacker has struggled for chances in the Premier League under Bees boss Thomas Frank
Fabio Carvalho’s dad has told him to “get out” of Brentford as his move to the London side turns increasingly sour.
Carvalho joined the Bees in a £27.5million deal from Liverpool in the summer transfer window. But so far the transfer has not worked out, with the attacker starting just two Premier League games this season.
Instead, he has been forced to play the role of impact sub, though has only scored twice in his 14 appearances in all competitions. Boss Thomas Frank then left the 22-year-old on the bench for Saturday’s draw at Everton.
That decision has sparked fury from Carvalho’s camp, who have been left unhappy with the way Frank has been using him. Brentford’s official Instagram account posted the full-time score on the social media platform.
Carvalho’s father Victor decided to reply to the post and show his anger at his son’s lack of game-time this campaign. He urged the attacker to leave the London side, writing: “Son, you need to get out [of] that club.”
While Carvalho’s father is unhappy, Brentford boss Frank has previously made it clear he rates the attacker. The highlight of his time with the Bees so far was in a Carabao Cup win over Leyton Orient.
Carvalho scored a superb overhead kick before also laying on an assist in that September game. And afterwards Frank hailed the 22-year-old for how he had been approaching life at his new club.

“He’s taking steps in the right direction in the past five or six weeks,” Frank said. “I was very pleased with what I saw from him; a great goal, a great assist. He’s growing into what I thought he would bring to us.”
Frank’s plans against Everton were likely affected by Crhistian Norgaard’s controversial red card shortly after half-time. While his side were able to hold onto a draw, Frank made it clear the sending off changed the game.
“There’s a lot of positives to take from the game. Mentality, effort, character, defensive principles. The first clean sheet of the season, first points. I think it was well deserved. We were definitely low at times but I’m very proud,” he told Match of the Day.
“It’s never a red card for me. The ball is coming across and he’s only looking at the ball. Pickford is moving around and it’s very unlucky with the contact to the leg, he’s actually pulling out. It would have been a big injury to him potentially.
“You can see the reaction from the players on the pitch who are close to it, no reactions to it. There needs to be more common sense and understanding on how the ball is played. If this is a red card, the game has changed and I don’t like that.”
