Race Across The World star Freddy Brazier is preparing for fatherhood at 20 with support from dad Jeff, as he and his ex navigate a complicated past to co-parent their child
Freddy Brazier is reportedly set to become a father, expecting his first child with an ex-girlfriend – a baby that would have been the late Jade Goody’s first grandchild.
The model, 20, who won hearts alongside his dad Jeff Brazier on Celebrity Race Across the World, reportedly turned to Jeff for guidance. A source told The Mail on Sunday: “It has blindsided him and has been one of the things that has really brought him and his dad back together, but it’s so devastating that Jade isn’t here to see it.”
Freddy is said to be receiving full support from Jeff, a parenting coach and This Morning regular, as well as other close family and friends, all promising to help however they can.
The brief romance between Freddy and the child’s mother is believed to have ended on difficult terms, with tensions that reportedly led to police involvement. Despite this, the two have since spoken about the possibility of rebuilding communication for the sake of co-parenting.
“Jeff was one of the first people he decided to confide in to ask for advice,” the friend added. “He stepped up straight away and wanted to help in any way he could.”
Last month, it was revealed that Freddy had split from his girlfriend Holly Swinburn. Freddy had been living with Holly at her home in East London.
As things continued to blossom, the pair bought a pet dog together. However, they purchased a Pocket Bully named Pablo – and even launched an Instagram page for the pet pooch.
However, it appeared that things turned sour between the pair this summer. Last month, Freddy had been sharing gushing messages about the 21-year-old on social media. He wrote at the time alongside an image of the pair: “Couldn’t think of a caption, but the photos say it all. Life is good.”
Speaking of the split, a source claimed to the Mail Online at the time: “Things got very intense very quickly and Freddy had been living with Holly and they had holidayed together, making plans for their future, but it has turned ugly pretty fast.
“There has been an almighty fall out and neither party believes they’re in the wrong – it has become the latest saga in Freddy’s life following a series of setbacks.” They added: “Nothing seems simple at the moment.”
The news comes just days after Freddy bravely revealed he was sectioned after battling addiction and manic episodes.
Jade Goody’s youngest son said he has been smoking weed since he was 12-years-old. He also spoke of his relationship with his dad, Jeff Brazier, and his fears that Jade’s mum Jackiey would take her own life if he wasn’t around.
In a snippet from his new podcast, which is due to launch this week, Freddy said: “I’ve been smoking since I was 12. I’ve been to rehab, I’ve been sectioned, I’ve had manic episodes. There’s been a real journey and it’s been a tough one.”
Freddy was just four when his reality TV star mum died from cervical cancer on Mother’s Day in 2009, aged 27.
However, Jade is clearly still in his thoughts all these years later – as Freddy shared a photo of her hugging him and brother Bobby, 22, when they were kids.
Speaking about his relationship with gran Jackiey, he claimed: “My nan was definitely the person who not only introduced me to weed but got me hooked. I feel like if I didn’t prioritise the relationship with my mum’s mum… I was scared that if I wasn’t [around her], she would kill herself.
“And I had that in my head for so long to the point where I pushed my dad away and I was at my nan’s for months.”
Freddy and Jeff ’s relationship has been strained over the past year, particularly after Freddy moved out of the family home to stay with his nan. However, the pair are making huge strides to build bridges and are now stronger than ever.
In June, Freddy said he planned to go to rehab and that he wanted to be clean in order to repair relationships within his family. He said previously: “I want to be happy and be in a healthy relationship and have a healthy relationship with my Nana and my father.”
The Mirror has approached Freddy’s representatives for comment on this story.
