Top chef chef Angela Harnett shared her favourite way to make fried eggs, which uses one secret ingredient for more flavour.
Eggs are the ideal breakfast dish and remarkably adaptable, enabling you to dress them up however you fancy.
Renowned chef Angela Harnett rustled up one of her go-to fried egg dishes for her podcast Dish, alongside co-host Nick Grimshaw.
But there’s a special ingredient Angela incorporated to give her eggs even more taste, reports the Express. The secret ingredient that gives eggs bags of flavour? Anchovies.
In a recent TikTok video, Angela whipped up one of her favourite fried eggs recipes that are “Michelin-worthy”, which can easily recreated at home. The video’s caption read: “Michelin-star eggs, anyone?”
First, in a heated pan, add a “serious” quantity of top-quality butter. Break in three eggs, and carefully move the egg whites closer together with a spoon to help them maintain their form.
Include a touch of fresh sage, which Angela described as “delicious”. Continue with a dash of chilli flakes.
Nick said: “I like it when they look all bubbly, voluptuous like that.”
This is where you incorporate the secret component for a flavour explosion: anchovies. Add several anchovies and a splash of the anchovy oil as well.
Continue cooking to allow the anchovy to dissolve slightly. Remove the pan from the heat and then drizzle the eggs with the butter from the pan.
Angela suggested serving the eggs with a piece of toast. Once plated, smother the eggs with the remaining anchovy butter.
The duo described the dish as appearing “delish”. The clip has already been watched more than 49,600 times, garnering 1,808 likes and 16 comments.
