Gardeners urged to blast patio with 59p kitchen staple to make it good as new

Garden patios will come back to life by simply using this one household kitchen staple that costs less than a pound – and gardeners can expect results within 10 minutes.

Now that winter is long gone, gardening tasks are becoming more important. As we spend more time outdoors, you might’ve noticed a lot of dirt accumulated on your patio slabs. But don’t worry, there’s a solution!

During the winter months, it’s normal for patio stones to become grimy and lose their colour. As summer is around the corner, and as exciting as it might be to finally sit down in the garden and enjoy the sunshine, let’s be real… Who wants to sit down in a dirty space?

To help you prepare for the months ahead, there’s one useful item that’s most likely in your kitchen cupboard that promises to leave your outside space as good as new: baking soda. And if you haven’t got any, it costs less than a pound.

Not only does the dirtiness look unpleasant, but it can also become a dangerous hazard. As the UK weather isn’t reliable, even during the summer, patio stones can often get slippery due to the rain and the accumulation of moss.

For those looking for the cheapest and most effective way to get rid of these, there’s a common household that works like wonders, and delivers results almost instantly.

As reported by gardening experts at Grass247, the best way to eliminate dirt from the stones is using baking soda. Simply sprinkle it and with a wet brush or a broom, scrub the slabs. It’s just as easy as it sounds, and it requires little effort.

After adding this magic potion, results will start to show. When the moss becomes brown, brush it away! Keep doing this where necessary, and you’ll see how your patio has transformed into a new place.

Speaking to the Mirror, the site added: “For stubborn stains, mix baking soda with a little water to form a paste, apply with a brush, leave for 10 minutes, and then scrub and rise. For optimal results, you should use a brush that has natural bristles rather than synthetic bristles to reduce any chances of damaging your stones.”

By using this simple ingredient that’s accessible in any UK supermarket or local store, you’ll revive your outdoor spaces in no time – and again, it’s so cheap! Now is the best time to get into some gardening tasks and ensure our patios are ready and tidy as ever.
