Geordie Shore favourite Scotty Timlin has been axed from the long-running reality TV show following his recent drug-driving conviction
Scotty T has reportedly been removed from Geordie Shore following his recent conviction for driving under the influence of drugs. The 36-year-old reality star, who made a comeback to the Paramount+ series last year, admitted in court last month to driving with a controlled substance in his system that exceeded the legal limit.
As a result, he was fined £330 and handed a 12-month driving ban. Despite his highly anticipated return to the show after a two-year hiatus, producers have now decided to cut ties with him ahead of the upcoming series.
An insider revealed: “Scotty T won’t be taking part in the next season of Geordie Shore, which is set to start filming this spring. While the cast has never been expected to be completely squeaky clean, his latest behavior crossed a line.
“At the end of the day, MTV and the show’s producers can’t be seen supporting someone who has been caught driving under the influence of illegal substances.”
The source told The Sun: “Ultimately, they had no other option but to leave him out of the next series. If he manages to turn things around, there’s always a possibility of a future return. But for now, the show will be moving forward without him.”
The former Celebrity Big Brother winner was pulled over by police in Newcastle on October 18 last year. In court, it was revealed that he had 32 microgrammes of a controlled drug per litre of blood while behind the wheel of his Land Rover Discovery, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 10 microgrammes.
Additionally, his blood contained 800 microgrammes of BZE, far beyond the legal threshold of 50 microgrammes.
Last year, reports suggested that Scotty T was on the verge of making a full-time return to the show. A source previously shared: “Scotty has spent weeks negotiating his comeback and was only days away from officially signing back on. He regretted how things ended and was eager to make things right.
“The rest of the cast were thrilled at the idea of him returning because, despite his past mistakes, he brings great entertainment to the show. Producers made it clear that this was his last opportunity and warned him not to mess it up again,” they added.
Scotty T first joined Geordie Shore in 2012 during its fourth season and remained a key cast member until 2018. He later returned for seasons 18, 19, and 23.
Back in 2019, he candidly spoke about his struggles with substance abuse. At the time, he explained that he turned to drugs after shooting to fame. After a series of family tragedies, including the death of his stepdad, his habit spiralled out of control again.
In 2017, he voluntarily entered rehab for two weeks in an effort to get clean. He checked himself into a clinic in Thailand to get help. Scotty said at the time that he’s much healthier, but still takes cocaine “recreationally”. He previously said: “I take it on a recreational basis but it’s not a necessity like it used to be. I know my limits. I know my triggers. Yes I might do it recreationally but I don’t need it anymore.”
