This week sees the return of one of TVs most wholesome shows, The Great British Bake Off. Back on our screens on Tuesday 2 September, the show’s comeback officially marks the start of autumn and cosy season for many of us, and is the perfect opportunity for us to to start considering trying out some of our own bakes at home.

If you’re thinking about trying out some home baking yourself, you’ll need the right tools for the job, which is why Smeg is currently running a great deal that lets you snap up a set of its electronic Kitchen Scales for free. The deal runs from now until November 4, with the scales worth £129.95 and coming in a variety of retro inspired colourways, making them perfect for getting started with baking.

The set of scales comes free with every purchase of a Stand Mixer that you make directly from Smeg’s website, with the mixer another great addition for stepping up your home baking or cooking. Fans of Bake Off will be all too familiar with the stand mixers that appear on each of the baker’s benches in a range of pastel retro colours, and the Smeg one is ideal for getting a similar look.

The exact stand mixers used in the Bake Off tent are the KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, which is currently on sale on Amazon down from £549 to £379 just in time for the new series to start. The tent also stocks the Kenwood kMix which are priced between £259 and £359 depending on which model you buy.

Whilst Smeg’s Stand Mixer is slightly higher priced at £499.95, the addition of the free set of scales with every purchase means you’re getting £630 worth of kitchen equipment for under £500 – a great way to save some money. They’d also make great presents for any avid bakers and chefs in your life if you’re planning on starting some early Christmas shopping.

The smeg mixer comes in five different retro colours, with a large stainless steel bowl and ten different speed levels to best adapt the different dough consistencies. There’s also various settings ranging from ice cream to pasta, so you can use it to make both sweet and savoury dishes.

Meanwhile the Smeg Kitchen Scales come with a removable stainless steel bowl that can hold up to 5 kg, with easy conversion to four different units of measurements. They also have a handy tare function which resets the bowl’s weight so you can measure each ingredient individually without starting from scratch every time.

On your marks, get set, bake!
