Supermodel Gigi Hadid has celebrated daughter Khai’s fifth birthday with heartfelt Instagram posts as she reflected on her motherhood journey and co-parenting with ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik
Gigi Hadid took to Instagram on Friday to celebrate a milestone for her daughter Khai Malik, who just turned five.
The 30-year-old model, currently in a relationship with actor Bradley Cooper, 50, posted a touching series of images and memories for her 81 million followers.
One of the photos showed her crouching beside Khai inside a horse stable. Gigi was dressed casually in jeans, a camouflage sweatshirt, and a baseball cap, while her daughter looked every bit the cowgirl in pink boots, denim, and tiny brown chaps.
Over the picture she wrote, “My girl is 5 today,” adding another caption: “Happy Birthday to my greatest love & gift.”

Hadid, who shares Khai with her former partner Zayn Malik, 32, also shared a throwback photo from October 2023 where she cradled her daughter on her hip, wearing jeans and a white T-shirt with her hair pulled into a braid. Other clips included pregnancy snapshots and fan-curated pictures of mother and daughter.
While Hadid often posts glimpses of Khai, she and Malik have made a point of keeping their daughter’s face out of the spotlight.
Explaining her approach, she told Vogue earlier this year: “I don’t think it would be fully genuine to post nothing of Khai. But I also don’t want to put anything up that would take away from her privacy and her peace.”
The Guest in Residence founder also discussed her relationship with social media, describing a shift in how she uses it: “I am grateful for social media, and the ways that it has connected me to the world.
“I wouldn’t have the same career without it,” she said. Comparing Instagram to old-fashioned correspondence, she added, “My Instagram is like snail mail. If you follow me, you have to be patient, life has to load.… It’s different from how socials felt when I was younger. It doesn’t come as naturally to me as it did when Instagram started.”
Hadid also acknowledged the importance of co-parenting smoothly with Malik. “Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance,” she revealed.
“That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs.” She described their current relationship as being built on “love, and a feeling of camaraderie.”
The couple were together for six years and even collaborated creatively, with Gigi appearing in his 2016 music video for Pillow Talk.
Since their split, the model has been linked with Cooper, whom she met at a children’s birthday party in late 2023.
Their romance has been quietly blossoming ever since, while Hadid continues to balance her personal life with motherhood and a high-profile career.
