Glastonbury fans in tears as they ‘work out’ identity of secret act

By staff27 June 2025No Comments5 Mins Read

Glastonbury Festival fans believe they’ve worked out who the mysterious ‘TBA’ act is on the Pyramid Stage on Friday evening and it has left many in tears

Founded by Michael Eavis in 1970, Glastonbury Festival features around 3,000 performances across over 80 stages. Glastonbury Festival enthusiasts are convinced they’ve cracked the code of who’s behind one of the tantalising ‘TBA’ (to be announced) slots set for today, Friday, June 27, at the iconic music event. Festival-goers and fans have been piecing together clues about the identity of the so-called Patchwork act billed for Saturday night, June 28, on the Pyramid Stage, but even more mystery shrouds another ‘TBA’ performer.

Noticing a brief 35-minute window with no act scheduled between 4.55pm and 5.30pm on Friday, speculation went into overdrive with big names like Radiohead, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, and Lewis Capaldi being suggested. Now it seems almost certain that the ‘TBA’ slot belongs to Glasgow’s own hitmaker, Lewis Capaldi.

Early this week, social media was abuzz with images of two cryptic billboards, one in Somerset near Glastonbury and the other in Capaldi’s stomping ground of Glasgow, reports Somerset Live. According to a social media share by @thearchbishopofbanterbury from a user named John: “Two mysterious billboards have popped up overnight, one at the site of Glastonbury festival and one in Glasgow.”

These billboards teased with lyrics saying “I’ve had my share of Monday mornings when I can’t get up,” and “I refuse to spend my best year rotting in the sun”. Meanwhile, Lewis has given weight to the rumours with his midnight release of ‘Survive’ snippets, marking his musical comeback with an Instagram post remarking: “It’s been a while..”

The fan-run Secret Glasto account hinted at Lewis Capaldi’s return, urging fans to send him their best at Glastonbury, stating: “Already widely known, but Lewis Capaldi will be playing the TBA on he Pyramid stage between 1655–1730. He’s had a tough few years so go give him some Glastonbury love.”

Other Glastonbury attendees have also spotted posters bearing Lewis’ face and the words ‘Celebrity Lookalike Content’, pointing fans to the Pyramid Stage for the TBA slot. It also read: “Absolutely zero cash prize.”

Glastonbury attendees showed their support for the crooner online, with Dave sharing on X (formerly Twitter ): “Good to see lewis capaldi back, was in the crowd last time at glastonbury and could see how much he was struggling. Hope he smashes it today back there.”

Coral expressed similar sentiments: “The best thing that can happen today is for Lewis Capaldi to make a comeback on Glastonbury pyramid stage. The love he will feel will be another level, his new song today.”

Lewis had a memorable yet challenging performance at the last Glastonbury festival in 2023, battling his Tourette’s syndrome while on stage, but receiving immense support from the audience as they sang along.

Capaldi later spoke out about that day and informed his followers of an impending hiatus on Instagram: “Hello everyone. First of all, thank you to Glastonbury for having me, for singing along when I needed it and for all the amazing messages afterwards. It really does mean the world.”

He added with sadness: “The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.”

Lewis Capaldi has penned a heartfelt letter to his fans, announcing that he will be taking a temporary break from music to focus on his well-being. He shared: “I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I’d hoped 3 weeks away would sort me out. But the truth is I’m still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come.

“I know I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to take some time out when others can’t and I’d like to thank my amazing family, friends, team, medical professionals and all of your who’ve been so supportive every step of the way through the good times and even more so during this past year when I’ve needed it more than ever.

“I’m so incredibly sorry to everyone who had planned to come to a shower before the end of the year but I need to feel well to perform at the standard you all deserve. Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of so this has been the most difficult decision of my life. I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can.”

The message signed off warmly: “All my love, always, Lewis.”

Meanwhile, Lorde hinted she’ll perform on the Woodsies stage at 11:30pm on Friday. The singer shared a picture of the iconic tent on her Instagram story, captioned: “11.30am BST”.
