Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has just turned 54 but she’s looking as good as ever thanks to her makeovers, healthy regime and attitude towards her appearance
Despite having a glam squad at her disposal every week for her TV appearances, Susanna Reid is more than happy to show off her natural, make-up free beauty in selfies during her time off. Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has to face the nation most weekday mornings from 6am, meaning she’s up at the crack of dawn ready to start work. Despite her gruelling schedule, which she’s been doing since 2014, the star has barely aged a day in the last 10 years.
She recently turned 54, although few would say she looks anywhere near it. Susanna is a single mum to three boys with former partner Dominic Cotton. They split in 2014 and with a new job to tackle, she underwent something of a makeover. After lockdown she also adopted a healthier lifestyle after a doctor told her her BMI was dangerously high for her height.
In 2018 she told former GMB co-host Piers Morgan that she wasn’t a fan of the gym and had lost weight purely by restricting her diet. “I stopped going to the gym, I found it made me too hungry. I’ve levelled out, I lost a stone-and-a-half and that’s enough, and I don’t go to the gym,” she said at the time. She also revealed that her 4am starts were causing her to snack and because she was feeling “a little heavy” she decided to cut them out completely. Susanna now follows a pescatarian diet and has stopped drinking alcohol after a medic told her it was affecting her skin. “I’m rather glad I’ve given up drink because lockdown drinking, the pandemic prosecco, has been a serious issue,” she told The Times. “I gave up because a doctor told me to.”
As well as losing some weight and adopting a healthy diet, Susanna is blessed with a youthful complexion, although she credits her TV team for much of that. Writing for the Daily Mail a few years ago she revealed: “From Monday to Thursday, I have the Good Morning Britain glam squad at work making me look my best. Amy blow-dries the frizz from my hair, while Heather or Mel work on my face. They breeze into my dressing room, rolling suitcases of lotions and potions, ready to mask my blemishes and lines while I read the newspapers and briefing notes.”
The journalist credited fake tan for giving her a healthy glow but highlighted the importance of not becoming obsessed with appearance: “I also have a weekly spray tan and dye my roots fortnightly,” she said. “It’s a case of faking it to make it, and I’m OK with that. I’m all for making ourselves look good – as long as we feel good, too. Feeling under pressure to look the same means we’ve gone too far.”
More recently GMB viewers were shocked when she unveiled a new, shorter haircut. She had her long, dark locks chopped into a short bob with blonde highlights in September last year. Talking to the Sun’s Fabulous about taking the plunge she recalled: “Carly, the lady who cut it for me, told me that the following week one of her clients came in and asked if she could have her hair done ‘like Susanna Reid off the telly.’ It’s actually a little harder to manage when it’s shorter, because it needs to be styled properly. But I love it. No regrets!” she said.
