Iconic bakery chain Greggs is incredibly popular thanks to its vast array of savoury and sweet treats, but one “new product” has really caused a stir and got many people all saying the same thing
Greggs has caused a stir with its “new” product that’s got many people saying the same thing – they desperately “need” it to become a reality.
The popular British bakery chain is known and loved for its extensive menu made up of iconic favourites like the timeless sausage roll, steak bake, and cheese and onion pasty; to its sweet treats like biscuits and donuts; as well as offerings like salads, sandwiches, pasta and more.
Greggs boasts a loyal customer base, with fans of all ages. In fact, it’s estimated that in the UK, the bakery chain sells around 2.5 million sausage rolls per week, which works out at around 140 million per year.
In a recent post shared to its official Instagram page, Greggs shared a mock-up image of two figurines designed to resemble its staff. The figurines are kitted out in the appropriate uniform, complete with Greggs branded hat and red apron, and come with accessories such as a tray, sausage roll, donut and even a set of tongs.
In the caption accompanying the humorous photo, the bakery penned: “Look! It’s a hero! It’s a legend! It’s a Greggs colleague! They might not wear a cape, but they do come equipped with tongs, an apron, and an unmatched ability to handle the morning rush. (Hair net sold separately)”.
The post racked up more than 7,000 likes in less than 24 hours and fellow social media users were eager to share their thoughts. One person said: “Defffff a need where can we order??”
Another declared: “I physically need one” while a third simply said: “Love this”. Someone else pondered: “I just checked my calendar to see if it was the 1st of April and I had slept for a month [crying laughing emoji] What is this???”
A fourth quipped: “Includes tongs? Sold.” Another Greggs fan tagged a friend and said: “This is what you’re getting for your 21st”, which prompted the response: “Omd AMAZING”.
Someone else asked their Greggs employee friend: “when can we expect your figure to be on sale”, to which they replied: “I’ll get on the phone to head office”.
And another added: “they’ve only gone and done it… they’ve made another product I need to have”.
Greggs was founded in Newcastle more than 80 years ago by John Gregg. It was his goal to deliver fresh egg and yeast to the families of the famed northern city, completing the venture by pushbike.
A decade later, he opened Greggs of Gosforth – sans bicycle – where he made fresh bread and treats. The high street still boasts a Greggs to this very day, though it has changed somewhat over the years.
On the Greggs website, it states: “With over 2,000 Greggs in the UK, the important stuff still matters to us. We’re hard-working, but above all else we’re family; and it doesn’t matter who you are, where you are from or what your favourite bake is, when you come into our shops, you’re part of the family too.”
