Residents told to keep windows and doors shut as fire crews sent to tackle blaze in ‘derelict building’
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has said in a statement that 11 crews have been sent to the scene of a “building fire” in the Siddal area, with representatives advising locals to close their windows and doors.
A spokesperson for the service said: “We currently have 11 crews from across West Yorkshire at the scene of a building fire at Cinderhill Works in the Siddal area of Halifax. This is believed to be a derelict building, 20x30m, 50 percent involved in flames. Crews are using large jets including an aerial appliance to tackle the fire.
“Please avoid the area, and all residents in the HX3 area and beyond keep doors and windows shut – there is a large smoke plume.”
