Harry Kane can finally enjoy the taste of silverware after Bayern Munich were crowned champions of the Bundesliga following Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with Freiburg
Harry Kane sang a rendition of Queen’s ‘We Are the Champions’ after finally winning the first trophy of his career. Kane, 31, watched alongside his Bayern Munich team-mates at a local bar as rivals Bayer Leverkusen slipped up and handed them the Bundesliga title.
The England captain didn’t waste any time to celebrate, with Bayern having played on Saturday. Players and staff were seen holding glasses and bottles of beer.
Kane shared the video of them singing the Queen hit on social media with the caption: “We are the Champions!!” adding a trophy emoji. The former Tottenham striker has waited longer than most top players to get his hands of silverware, having lost six cup finals in his career.
Everyone expected him to finally lift a trophy in his first season at Bayern last year, only for Leverkusen to end the German giants’ 11-year grip on the title with a stunning unbeaten campaign. But Bayern have bounced back this term under new manager Vincent Kompany and claimed their 34th Bundesliga crown thanks to Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with Freiburg on Sunday.
The party was getting started in Munich when Freiburg led 2-0 going into the closing stages, only for Leverkusen to mount a comeback. Goals from Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Tah put the jitters into Bayern but Leverkusen could only muster a draw.

That leaves Bayern eight points clear with two games to go, insurmountable for Leverkusen. Kompany’s men were in control of their own destiny heading into the weekend, though, only for drama to ensue.
As they travelled to face RB Leizpig, Bayern found themselves 2-0 down at half-time. A rapid comeback levelled the scores before Leroy Sane looked to have scored the winner in the 83rd minute.
Kane, who missed the game through suspension, made his way down from the stands and was ready to celebrate before Leipzig netted a 94th-minute equaliser. Bayern weren’t completely gutted, as their superior goal difference meant that the title was all but secured.

However, they weren’t allowed to fully celebrate until Leverkusen dropped two vital points. In a statement issued after full-time, Kompany said: “We now have time to enjoy winning the Bundesliga – what an incredible feeling! Congratulations to the players for their outstanding performance throughout the season: You did it together. You won as a team.
“A big thank you also to everyone who works behind the scenes at this great club. Your hard work is important and is paying off. We must keep pushing. The season isn’t over yet, and we still have a lot to look forward to.
“Let’s finish strong together Last but not least, a huge thank you to all Bayern fans around the world for your support. You were amazing. To everyone who will be there: Let’s create a special moment together on Saturday at the Allianz Arena.”
