Former Tottenham favourite Harry Kane has been playing alongside Mathys Tel for the last 18 months, with the winger now the subject of a £50million transfer bid from Spurs
Harry Kane has given Tottenham transfer target Mathys Tel his seal of approval, according to comments from Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp.
Spurs are among the clubs hoping to sign Tel, 19, before Monday’s transfer deadline. The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the Frenchman, who wants to leave Bayern Munich.
It’s Tottenham, though, who have stolen a march on their rivals by verbally agreeing a deal worth around £50million with Bayern.
And while it remains to be seen if Tel will decide to make the move, the Spurs target has been endorsed by their former star striker, who has been playing alongside the winger in Munich for the past 18 months.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp shared Kane’s verdict with viewers, revealing he had sounded the England captain out on Tek. Redknapp: “He’s a very talented player, that’s for sure. 19 years of age and Tottenham have obviously signed a lot of good young players in the las few years. That seems to be the profile of what they are trying to get.
“I messaged Harry Kane earlier on and he was very complimentary about him. First of all, he said he was a great guy; wants to work, good trainer, a good finisher and has a lot of potential.”
Tottenham are in need of outfield reinforcements before Monday’s transfer deadline and are currently without a whole host of attacking players through injury, including their big summer signing, Dominic Solanke.

Tell, who can play out wide or down the middle, has not the found the net in 14 appearances for Bayern this term but did score 10 goals last season.
And while Redknapp appreciates the talent and potential that Tel possesses, he did caveat his comments with the fact that the mooted £50m transfer fee for the youngster’s services would be a significant one.
He added: “It’s a lot of money, 50 million, for a 19 year old. You can’t think of too many others players at that age that have cost much more.
“He can play across the line… but there’s still Son (Heung-Min), there’s still (Dejan) Kulusevski and (Dominic) Solanke when he is fit. So there’s probably not a guarantee that he’ll come in as a regular starter but trying to get in front of Harry Kane at Bayern Munich is not easy as we know.”
